The Senate Intelligence Committee will not investigate whether President Donald Trump obstructed justice as part of its probe into Russia’s meddling in the 2016 election, CNN reported.

The decision came after leaders of the Senate panel met with special counsel Robert Mueller.

"Obstruction is criminal — there's a criminal aspect to that," committee Chairman Sen. Richard Burr, a North Carolina Republican, told CNN. "It's never been part of our" investigation.”

from CNN: Senate intel panel to steer clear of Trump obstruction question http://www.cnn.com/2017/06/15/politics/senate-trump-obstruction-of-justice/index.html

now, with this being released, with sources, I wonder if it was used as the basis for 'anon' sources that claimed that Mueller was definitely investigating

Comey was very clear in his testimony about Flynn and the President's words and that the purpose of the President's words was obstruction....

Trump was interested in one thing...getting it out in the Public that he was NOT under investigation. That IS what he told the President three times.

Not only did Comey refuse, he leaked to make sure a Special Prosecutor was appointed.

As annoying as the phenomenon of "Fake News" is, there is something far more dangerous afoot that I fear can bring down our Republic.

It is "Fake Government"--which I see as self-serving, greedy men and women using their elected offices to enrich themselves, unrestrained by term limits, while playing 'gotcha' politics to ensure their permanent place in office until they choose to retire.

its going to continue until the GOPe puts on their big-boy pants....and considering they’ve been looking for them the past 11 years I don’t think they’ll find them anytime soon...

probe into Russia’s meddling in the 2016 election Presuming that there was “meddling” by the Russians. If there was, it happened on Barak Obama’s watch, and Obama lied about it to us before the election.

The USSR used to meddle in our politics routinely, and back then the Democrat Party took no exception to it since they were simpatico with the USSR. Certainly Ted Kennedy was . . .

And of course if they did in this case, they might well appeal to the precedent of Mr. Obama’s behavior during the Israeli elections to justify themselves.

You pretty much describe the Roman Senate of old.

true. Comey built his testimony on carefully crafted words meant to appeal to ‘the oppressed and those who rescue them.’ - stunned, confused, uncertain, not brave, etc. So transparent. And so U of Columbia. He made notes from the first meeting, which he asked for, where he reinforced to Trump what was in the dossier (and worried Trump would lie about it? ha!) But not a single note on Lynch or Hillary or Podesta, Anwar bros., or anyone else he talked to. The more he talked, the free’er Trump became from the yoke Comey had intentionally held for months over Trump’s head.

Burr is a =/_€*€##!! A-Hole. An eastern version of John McCain. He wants to destroy the president of his own party.

“Burr is a =/_€*€##!! A-Hole. An eastern version of John McCain. He wants to destroy the president of his own party.”

??

Burr said the Senate will NOT look into whether Trump obstructed justice.

That’s a good thing.

That implies one of two very good developments:

1) Either Mueller told the Senate that there was nothing to indicate Trump was involved in obstruction and the Senate Republicans agreed, or..

2) Mueller told them indications were that Trump was involved in criminal obstruction and the Senate Republicans said “bologna”

Either way, this indicatates that there are sane people running the Senate.

I was beginning to wonder!

What a relief to wake up and hear this - and I haven’t even had my covfefe yet!

IIRC, Obama actually appeared personally or in a televised appearance on behalf of the left-wing Islamist candidate in an African election a couple of years ago. I think the country was Kenya, but I could be wrong.

The Senate Judiciary Committee told Burr to back off their territory. Judiciary has oversight of the DOJ and FBI. Grassley is a very different creature from Burr.

What is happening is Obstruction of Governance

The obstructors don’t need a special prosecutor to be rounded up and detained indefinitely as enemies of the state.

The policy should be catch and detain
