Rep. Jake Flake (R-AZ) appeared on MSNBC for an interview with Chuck Todd ahead of the Congressional Baseball Game Thursday night, and had some suggestions for President Donald Trump.
The game comes on the heels of Wednesday mornings shooting in Alexandria, VA, in which a gunman opened fire on House Republicans practicing for the game, wounding five people, including Majority Whip Steve Scalise.
Trump toned down the rhetoric in the aftermath of the shooting, and gave a surprisingly mature statement in which he said we are strongest when we are unified and when we work together for the common good.
But, after Wednesday nights newest bombshell report from The Washington Post revealing Trump is under investigation by special counsel Robert Mueller for obstruction of justice, the president reverted back to his comfort zone: firing off tweets this morning calling the story phony and the investigation part of a WITCH HUNT.
Later on in the day, Trump turned his ire towards 2016 election opponent Hillary Clinton, asking why he is the focus on an investigation and not Crooked H.
Todd asked Flake whether Trumps tweeting is helpful at a time where lawmakers are urging supporters to tone down the partisan rhetoric, and why the president has not heeded their advice.
Weve got to lead by example, frankly, we got to do the same, tone down the rhetoric and the language that we use, and I do hope the president will do the same, Flake said.
We saw a campaign where, on all sides it was frankly pretty ugly, Flake said. And weve got to change it.
Weve got to stop ascribing the worst motives to our opponents, and debate ideas.
Todd asked if there were specific things Trump could do to lead, and Flake responded: Well, theres things that he could stop doing, you know, referring to others in the other party as losers, and using language that isnt becoming.
Flake added that Trump, as president of the United States, is in a unique position to set better standards for the American people.
Cuck are just going to keep on Cucking.
I agree.
Democrats should be called “enemies”.
They are Losers. Be Honest!
Can we call the losers flakes?
What a loser.
Congratulations, AZ. You are represented in the Senate by a Flake and a Putz.
Is someone going to primary this guy in 2018?
Hey Flake: You’re a loser.
Godless commies would also work, if 'losers' is offensive.
Flake doesn’t even know what the problem is. Not helpful. Just shut up.
It would be helpful to the USA if Arizona would quit electing Cheap Labor Express stooges.
Why? Did the widdle snowflakes get their feelings hurt?
Losers hate being called losers.
With flakes like Flake who needs flakes. Something like that.
Flake, the GOP “John Kerry”
A**hole.
Hey, Loser Flake ... It’s OK to call them “deplorables” and “irredeemables,” though?
PC is for losers and those that are afraid to upset the status quo and win
Appeared on MSNBC says it all
