Is Sen. Ron Wyden trying to warn the public about an unknown government surveillance effort that affects domestic communications? The Oregon Democrat isnt saying, leaving experts guessing as he presses a cryptic inquiry.
On Thursday the privacy advocate's office circulated to reporters a letter Wyden sent to Director of National Intelligence Dan Coats, demanding that Coats offer a third answer to a question about government surveillance.
The question, first asked by Wyden at a June 7 hearing and restated Thursday, seems straightforward: Can the government use FISA Act Section 702 to collect communications it knows are entirely domestic?

Hes just a grandstanding four-flusher, with a lisp.

This is so silly now. The government discovered it was easier to just harvest every piece of metadata on everyone. Then when requested they retrieve it on any person or entity.
Government doesn’t need harvest it. Just buy it from all the social media services. Amazon, Google to name a few already lead the state-of-the-art in data mining, analysis & predictive analytics. Buy it from them and its already analyzed & usable. The market has been active for several years now government is way way behind the technology curve on this. (Note I am not endorsing this collection, just acknowledging it’s ongoing!) I have been studying this area for work for some time now, going to conferences, etc. It’s frightening! In many ways NSA is obsolete. Note anyone with cash can buy the data & the analysis, just set up a “marketing firm” with money and do it!
Remember you are the commodity! These social media firms are buying, trading & selling “you”! How else can Facebook, etc have such high valuations!
