CNN Goes to Court to Get the FBI's Comey Memos
PJ Media ^ | 06-15-2017 | Michael van der Galien

Posted on 06/15/2017 10:33:56 AM PDT by Michael van der Galien

In federal court today, CNN has filed a lawsuit seeking to force the FBI to turn over former Director James Comey's memos documenting his conversations with President Donald Trump, says ... CNN:

'Despite high public interest in the content of the memos, Comey's testimony that the records are not classified and a ruling from the Justice Department that the FBI should expedite CNN's FOIA request for the memos, the FBI has not provided either the documents or a reason to withhold them, according to the lawsuit filed in the US District Court for the District of Columbia.

'That constitutes a violation of the federal Freedom of Information Act, the lawsuit alleges. CNN asked the court to require the agency release the documents "unredacted, and without further delay".'

CNN wants to see the memos because Comey spoke about them rather openly during his congressional testimony:

'In riveting testimony last week, Comey detailed how prior to the firing, Trump invited and corralled him into a series of private meetings. He said the conversations were uncomfortable enough that he documented them in a series of nine memos initially distributed to only a small circle of FBI colleagues.'

This is undoubtedly exactly what Comey and his Democratic friends wanted to accomplish. After all, why else would he have let one of his other friends leak the content of one specific memo? It's what he wanted and CNN is now trying to make it happen.

The Trump Administration should file an Amicus brief stating that CNN has no standing since CNN is entertainment and not journalism.

Well I think CNN should give Comey at least a day for Comey to type them up.

"In riveting testimony last week, Comey detailed how prior to the firing, Trump invited and corralled him into a series of private meetings."

Actually I believe Comey testified the first "private" meeting was private at Comey's request. Trump made a big mistake ever meeting alone with that snake.

There’s no way for CNN (or anyone else) to prove when the “memos” were written, nor verify the veracity of the contents.

THAT should be a big GOP focus. Don’t accept what Comey scribbled as the truth. And calling it a memo instead of a note or a diary entry or whatever seems to bolster the validity. Why do we allow the manipulation of language to suit the left? Call it a diary entry in a mocking tone and deride it as a likely fantasy fabrication in preparation for his book deal.

NYT had passages dictated to them from the source caller

The source never got the memos either as the info was conveyed in a conversation.

He said he deleted them. They do not exist. Maybe never did

They don’t exist, or you supena every laptop he ever had and do hard drive forensics to find the file blocks.

At least CNN or The Senate Intel (oxymoron) will draw out the fact that there are no memos. Never were

Or Comey destroyed vital relevant evidence and therefore obstructed justice.

That professor should be in prison right now, along with Comey in the next cell. Immediately.

The mere fact that the FBI has done neither does not bode well.

-- The source never got the memos either as the info was conveyed in a conversation. --

Comey swore that Richman had at least one memo, the memo of the "drop Flynn investigation" remark. An honest person would arrange his memos meeting by meeting. Comey is not honest, and I suspect he made separate memos for any item he believed he could use to damage or incriminate a person he perceived as a threat.

Comey lied when he said he did not take note of conversations with GWB. The point of that lie is to make Trump appear as so extreme, that notes were necessary as part of an inevitable need to facilitate the removal of Trump from office.

The time to get the memos is BEFORE you make an ass out of yourself by running fake news stories about them.

Why hasn’t Congress subpoenaed Comey’s documents? Are they waiting for hell to freeze over? It’s been a MONTH!

The best explanation I saw was that Comey gave his friend a group of memos that contained outright lies and misrepresentations. After Trump sent his Twitter message warning Comey (and the whole world) that the conversations may have been taped, Comey prepared different memos that reflected the actual conversations much more accurately. Since nobody in the media ever actually saw the original ones, nobody would be able to verify if the content was altered in any way.

This would explain why fake media outlets like the New York Times originally ran stories about these memos that were later contradicted by Comey himself -- who allegedly prepared them in the first place.

This would also explain why Comey's testimony before the Senate last week contained nothing that was damaging to Trump other than Comey's own fabricated ideas about what Trump wanted him to do.

CNN is going to come away empty handed—The memo(s) never existed in the first place.

Comey is a leaker. We need to keep the focus on that, not Comey’s BS excuses. Find the leakers, the unmaskers, and prosecute them. Start with Comey.

Exactly, there are no memos. Never was. And yes, they have to be manufactured to pass muster in courts.

So basically whatever evidence Comey has or had would not survive cross-examination and therefore Comey is not a credible witness putting anything he says in to doubt. Plus we can prove motive for him to fabricate the story. Thus the obstruction case cannot be proven as there is a reasonable doubt.

That is why Trump’s bluff about tapes was so masterfull and was worded on purpose to not say there were or weren’t tapes, but rather to create doubt and make Comey be as honest as possible, as his false perjury testimony would be proven false by ‘just press play’
