Franklin Pierce University now has a “Safe Space Pledge” listed on a website dedicated to “student conduct and community standards.”

According to the pledge, it is a student’s “responsibility to be an ally,” noting that “a Raven (the university’s mascot) demonstrates integrity and respect for the community.”

Considering Franklin Pierce was a northern Democrat who supported the Slave Power agenda, including the Fugitive Slave and Kansas-Nebraska Act, continuing using that name ipso facto creates an unsafe place.

‘home’ is the safest place on earth. Why not just stay home?

The Left hates this one:
"A cadet will not lie, cheat, steal, or tolerate those who do."

But I guess similar sentiment is OK if the ends justify the means.

Easy for you to say if you're not the Wicked Witch of the West! :-) Speaking of which I'm surprised none of the Wiccans bitch and moan whenever the Wizard of Oz is broadcast.

FTA: “a Raven (the university’s mascot) demonstrates integrity and respect for the community.”
The raven is a glorified crow romanticized by Edgar Allen Poe, a DEAD WHITE GUY. That's offensive!!

“We must recognize that discrimination is not accepted, there is no excuse,” the Safe Space Pledge declares. “It is our responsibility to intervene, safely, in situations where discrimination has occurred.” —— Unless the discrimination is against a conservative or another person who does not conform to our beliefs and opinions.

The pledge goes on to state that students “must come together to create a safe environment in which diversity and inclusion are appreciated and where everyone is welcomed.” —— Except people with conservative values or opinions and especially except conservative and patriotic speakers.

The school’s “community standards” website advertises a “Safe Space Training” for “students, faculty, and staff” who wish to develop “skills to effectively support, affirm, refer, and advocate for LGBTQ+ community members” and learn “how to respond to and report incidents of hatred including assault and harassment.” —— Except and unless the object of the ridicule, hate, vitriol, shame and violence happens to be conservative or otherwise does not share our political opinion.

“The training is meant to enhance sensitivity and raise awareness of underrepresented and oppressed identities,” —— Except the underrepresented people of conservative values and opinions. Screw those evil deplorables.

Safe Place for Whom, may I ask?

“According to the pledge, it is a student’s ‘responsibility to be an ally,’ noting that ‘a Raven (the university’s mascot) demonstrates integrity and respect for the community’.”

____________________________________________________________

Once upon a midnight dreary, while I pondered, weak and weary,
Over many a quaint and curious movie from the great Al Gore—
While I nodded, nearly napping, suddenly there came a tapping,
As of some one gently rapping, rapping at my chamber door.
“’Tis some professor,” I muttered, “tapping at my chamber door—
Only this and nothing more.”

Ah, distinctly I remember it was in the bleak December;
And each separate dying ember wrought its ghost to warm us more.
Eagerly I wished the morrow;—vainly I had sought to borrow
From my books surcease of sorrow—sorrow for the lost Al Gore—
For the rare and radiant prophet whom the faithful name Al Gore —
Wealthy here for evermore.

And the silken, sad, uncertain rustling of that warming certain
Thrilled me—filled me with fantastic terrors never felt before;
So that now, to still the beating of my heart, I stood repeating
“’Tis some professor entreating reason at my chamber door—
Some late professor entreating reason at my chamber door;—
This it is and nothing more.”

Presently my soul grew stronger; hesitating then no longer,
“Sir,” said I, “or Madam, truly your forgiveness I implore;
But the fact is I was napping, and so gently you came rapping,
And so faintly you came tapping, tapping at my chamber door,
That I scarce was sure I heard you”—here I opened wide the door;—
Darkest minds and nothing more.

Deep into that darkness peering, long I stood there wondering, fearing,
Doubting, dreaming dreams no mortal ever dared to dream before;
But the warning was unbroken, gentle breezes gave no token,
And the only word there spoken was the whispered word, “Al Gore?”
This I whispered, and an echo murmured back the word, “Al Gore!”—
Merely this and nothing more.

Back into the chamber turning, all my soul within me burning,
Soon again I heard a tapping somewhat louder than before.
“Surely,” said I, “surely that is reason at my window lattice;
Let me see, then, what thereat is, and this mystery explore—
Let my heart be still a moment and this mystery explore;—
’Tis the wind and nothing more!”

Open here I flung my whole mind, when, with nary a thought as if blind,
In there stepped a modern Raven, not of stately days of yore;
Not the least common sense made he; not a flash of logic stayed he;
But, with mien of lord or lady, perched above my chamber door—
Perched upon a bust of Pallas just above my chamber door—
Watched, for PC, nothing more.

Then this empty head beguiling my sad fancy into smiling,
By the grave and stern decorum of the countenance it wore,
“Though thy thoughts be shorn and shaven, thou,” I said, “art sure no maven,
Ghastly grim and modern Raven wandering from the Nightly shore—
Tell me we shall learn to reason at this school’s Plutonian shore!”
Quoth the Raven “Nevermore.”

“a Raven (the university’s mascot) demonstrates integrity and respect for the community.”

Actually ravens eat dead, rotting meat.

And they love it.

Discrimination is endemic to education. Instruction is given and those who best grasp the instruction receive better grades than those who don’t. Discrimination.

Such bullshit.

Ravens are primarily scavengers.

What will these ‘students’ do when college is over and they owe $100,000 or more and they find a job and discover there is no safe space?
