Comey Invalidates Special Counsel
Gingrich Productions ^ | 06/09/17 | Newt Gingrich

"I asked a friend of mine to share the content of the memo with a reporter – didn’t do it myself for a variety of reasons – but I asked him to, because I thought that might prompt the appointment of a special counsel.”

This statement is tremendously important because it completely delegitimizes Robert Mueller’s so-called independent investigation and reveals it as poisoned fruit.

Think about it: Comey was the top law enforcement officer in the nation before he was fired on May 9. Had he felt a special counsel was necessary to investigate possible Russian influence in the 2016 election, he could have requested one from Congress at any time. If he felt his conversations with President Trump warranted additional attention, he could have approached Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein about it.

But instead he decided to do nothing. Comey apparently didn’t think there was need for a special counsel until the Monday after he was fired, according to his testimony. In a clear act of retaliation, Comey went outside the system and shared secret information with the media via a college professor-friend, in a calculated attempt to inflict pain on the Trump Administration. Further, he said he turned all his memos about his conversations over to the special counsel upon his termination – so Mueller’s investigators already had all they needed to make their own decisions.

<snip>

So, what we have here is a fired FBI director, who leaked private material to the press, so he could get his friend appointed as a special counsel in order to take retribution on the President – with the aid of a department full of federal lawyers who would have rather seen Hillary in the White House. And we are supposed to believe this will be an objective, unbiased investigation?

Wouldnt the next logical question to Comey be the name of his ‘friend’.

It’s like having the corrupt collusive media who are de facto Trump opponents, be appointed as moderators in political debates.

What an ugly farce.

We know who it was. A former FBI or FBI consultant who is a professor at Cornell

Both Comey and the professor should both be arrested and charged of leaking information.

Comey was a private citizen at that point. He has no authority to determine what can be told to the press at this point.

Wouldnt the next logical question to Comey be the name of his ‘friend’.

His name is Daniel Richman, a law professor at Columbia. He outed himself.

It’s just too bad Trump hasn’t found a place for Newt. Newt is a guy, like Trump, who continually thinks outside the box. And also like Trump, he’s very smart and savvy.

I have a theory. While the timing is odd (leak vs tweet) I think Trump bated Comey with the threat of the recordings. Trump likely does not have a recording of the infamous meeting between Trump and Comey, but Trump likely knew Comey was itching to leak it - based on suspected or known previous leaks that could be/will soon be attributable to Comey.

I think Trump is playing three-dimensional chess and Lordy, Comey is playing aw-shucks checkers.

FYI

It seems obvious to me Comey’s leak was orchestrated to appoint a Special Counsel. Worse yet, the Mueller/Comey team is planning a Criminal Investigation that may already be underway. See and hear what McCabe said Wednesday to Senator Reed at the 2:53:50 - 2:54:10 mark:

http://www.redstate.com/sweetie15/2017/06/07/watch-live-senate-intel-hearings-wednesday-60717/

Paraphrasing for those not able to put in the time: Senator Reed: (to McCabe) You are not commenting on the conversations between you and Comey because the conversations between Trump and Comey are under Criminal Investigation or may be under Criminal Investigation, is that correct? McCabe answered yes.

Remember this hearing happened a day before Comey’s testimony.

Great...then isn’t the logical next step to subpoena him? Ask him when he got the memo...and while we’re at it why are people testifying about an alleged memo which hasn’t been physically priduced

It concerned his work as FBI Director, so it wasn't private. Leaking it was a felony. Don't let them get away with fictions like this...
