We have 2nd and 4th graders at St. Andrew's and we feel very fortunate to have found this school and the community. Our children are being given a first-rate education here, both academically and socially.
We are very impressed by the faculty and staff. Our son and daughter are being challenged and engaged in their classes, and they are being taught to care about their classmates and to be compassionate people.
The community is warm and nurturing to both the students and parents. My children are really happy at school. I love the fact that the Center for Transformative Teaching and Learning works closely with Harvard to understand the neuroscience of learning. The chapel services are based on the Episcopal liturgy and the community is inclusive and welcoming of all religions.
My friends come from different faith traditions and they have expressed that they feel like they are respected and honored as an important part of the community. We love St. Andrew's and our children are thriving here.

A hidden gem in Potomac. A small down to earth community that is inclusive, warm and caring. I would recommend St. ANDREW'S Episcopal School to any family looking for an amazing school. This is the one!

We have 2 children at St. Andrews and couldnt be happier. We are completing our 4th year at the school and have had the opportunity to have experienced the preschool, elementary school and intermediate school so far. We have found each division to have a warm and nurturing environment.
I am constantly amazed at the curriculum and what my children are learning. The teachers and staff are very committed to the school and the students, making learning a fun experience. The entire school is also very inclusive of all religions, incorporating the teaching of various holidays from many religions in the weekly chapels. Bottom line - Our children are happy and excited to go to school every day.
Thank you SAES!

My family has been at St. Andrew's for five years. My children have come through the Intermediate, Middle and Upper Schools. Because the education at St. Andrews is individualized, the teachers in all divisions have been able to meet the needs of my three children, all of whom learn differently -- from a child with learning differences, to an honors student who is a natural learner, and one in between.
The administration at St. Andrew's is very responsive, the teachers are supportive, and the Head of School sets a positive and inclusive tone for the entire school community.

Sidwell Friends can cry in their bouillabaisse.
Look for the liberals and media to criticize Trump for sending Barron to this school. The same elites who had nothing to say about Obama seeding daughters to an elite private school will criticize the Trumps. That’s how this works.
And if they can find evidence of the Trump administration somehow cutting federal aid to education, then this will be a story to contrast the elites vs those who send children to public school.
I feel so sorry for Barron. He is having his life turned completely upside down. I hope this school (in ever so blue Montgomery County, MD) is, in fact, warm and nurturing, and welcomes him with open arms, making his transition as comfortable as possible.
His Mom will see to that.
Oops to that private message.
He will be happy and challenged...or she will be on the case.
Maryland blue is still redder than Manhattan.
This is such good news. Thanks for posting!!
Yur welcome.;-)
Both Montgomery County MD and Manhattan have their “red” pockets.
Hope the libs at that school don’t brainwash or bully that respectful young man against his father — or traditional values. We don’t need another millennial like Ivanka pressuring Trump.
I forget what grade he’s in but here’s the tuition:
Grades 9-12 $40,650
Grades 6-8 $38,590
Grade 3-5 $33,990
K- Grade 2 $27,490
Pre-K $23,490
It better be AWESOME for that much.
Agreed. If they try to make hay off where Barron attends though, Trump will cram it down their throats, based on the Obama girls. Will love to see that.
Both Trumps are fiercely protective of Barron. Melania will take them on herself if they aren’t careful. She’ll kick their behind but good.
I like that she’s a tough cookie. She seems like such a laid back woman, but cross her and she’ll come after you.
She’s just what is called for right now.
The Trumps are a great tag-team. I’m loving this.
That’s somewhere between $0.05 and $0.10 cents in Trump dollars.
$23,490 - $40,650
If he’s 11, he’s either going into 6th or 7th.
Academics will be a cut above the public schools. Being part of The Episcopal Church (TEC), the religious instruction will be de-emphasized, but what there is will be uber Leftist.
TEC ceased being a Christian denomination years ago. They worship homosexuality & lesbianism, abortion on demand at any stage of pregnancy, amnesty & unlimited immigration, enviro-wackiness, and re-distributive social justice.
What TEC will no longer affirm are the basic teachings of the Bible, their own 39 articles of faith, or the catechism. There was no Virgin birth, Jesus is not the Son of God, the Resurrection and Ascension did not occur, there is no Heaven (or hell), Satan is a figment of the imagination, and there is no Eternal Life.
I was a cradle Episcopalian, but now identify as a traditional Anglican. I grieve that the church left Christianity...and me.
I wonder how many members of the staff are “neverTrumpers”.
Same as most prep schools.
First, the faculty gets to know the students very, very well, having raised them from pups. There are always a few newcomers and the class size expands substantially in 9th grade, but the community is exceptionally close knit, even by elite private school standards. Secondly, class sizes are very small (which accounts for most of the hefty price tag).
Put those two factors together, and St. Andrews has a well-earned reputation for highly individualized instruction in a setting in which kids basically never "get lost." (Nor can kids hide.) St. Andrews consciously plays to that strength with a faculty that is highly attuned to learning differences.
I don't think there is any magical formula for the "best" mode of instruction. Kids and families are different. Variety and choice are important. But if I had to crawl out on a limb and suggest a model that manages to be both nurturing and challenging to a wide range of students, I'd probably favor small group tutorials in a school that is (1) small enough to know all the kids as individuals yet is (2) large enough to accommodate ability grouping and support a quality faculty and broad range of extracurriculars. That would look a lot like St. Andrews.
The school is academically rigorous but since most of its students are home grown and raised from the early grades, it is not as selective as elite prep schools that screen admissions at 6th or 9th grade. There are certainly schools in the DC area that are selective enough to produce a real pressure cooker environment. St. Andrews wants to avoid that.
