State Dept. Allows Embassies, Consulates to Acknowledge Pride Month

A State Department spokesperson on Friday said embassies and consulates have received guidance that allows them to recognize Pride month.

"Advancing the human rights of vulnerable groups including LGBTI persons is a core component of U.S. foreign policy," the spokesperson told the Washington Blade. "All people should be protected from discrimination and violence, and must be allowed to exercise their human rights, including their rights to the freedoms of expression, association, peaceful assembly, and religion or belief."

"LGBTI Pride celebrations are an expression of these rights," added the spokesperson. "As such, the department has issued guidance to embassies and consulates allowing them to, as appropriate to their local context, recognize LGBTI Pride Month."

The rainbow flag was raised over the U.S. Embassy in the Dominican Republic on Friday.

"So incredibly proud of U.S. Embassy Santo Domingo for raising the Pride flag today," wrote former U.S. Ambassador to the Dominican Republic James "Wally" Brewster on his Facebook.

The U.S. Embassies in Chile and Mexico in recent days have also publicly acknowledged Pride month.

The rainbow flag flew over the U.S. Embassy in Cuba on May 17 in commemoration of the International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia.

Trump has not recognized gay pride month, although Ivanka was attacked by liberals when she did so on Twitter. Rex Tillerson is behind this. He issued a statement:

The LGBT community and its allies are hoping that President Trump takes a cue from his top diplomat, Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, before it's too late.

The former CEO and chairman of Exxon on Wednesday recognized June as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Intersex (LGBTI) Pride Month -- something the president has yet to do, despite his predecessor Barack Obama doing so.

And the omission of June's recognition as Pride Month was particularly curious to many people, considering the president recognized June as Great Outdoors Month, African-American Music Appreciation Month, National Ocean Month and National Homeownership Month.

"In recognition of LGBTI Month, the Department of State affirms its solidarity with the human rights defenders and civil society organizations working around the world to uphold the fundamental freedoms of LGBTI persons to live with dignity and freedom," Tillerson said in a statement.

Tillerson also addressed the discrimination and violence individuals who identify as LGBTI endure.

"We also recognize that LGBTI persons continue to face the threat of violence and discrimination," he wrote. "Violence and discrimination targeting any vulnerable group undermines our collective security as well as American values. When all persons are protected on the basis of equality and with dignity, global stability is strengthened. We will continue to support the human rights of LGBTI persons together with like-minded governments, businesses, and civil society organizations globally."

He continued, "The United States remains committed to human rights and fundamental freedoms for all persons. Dignity and equality for all persons are among our founding constitutional principles, and these principles continue to drive U.S. diplomacy."

Tillerson strikes again.

There is no need to do this.

Not in my opinion. My personal belief is that while I don’t support the bullying/persecution of gays and stand in opposition to it, I also don’t think the U.S. government has to endorse the lifestyle. The flag was used in a campaign to redefine marriage - which I’m opposed to.

The liberals will claim I’m a bigot of course. In fact, I think the liberals who claim to be stewards of the gay community should be very concerned with the threat of radical Islam and with how gays are treated under it. Why are they not more concerned with an ideology that wants to make being in a gay relationship illegal and in fact calls for the imprisonment/death of gays?

The US Department of Agriculture has now done the same thing:

Well, that’s completely asinine.

What the world now sees as America’s primary export: homosexuality.

Why did any official need to make any sort of statement about this? They are such a tiny minority of the population and they are not normal. They are perverted. Why celebrate that?

How about some photographs of the Queer Flag flying at the US embassies in Saudi Arabia, Iran and the other hard core muslim countries.

BTW - Exactly what is it that these degenerates are so proud of anyway?

It’s obvious that you suffer from an excess of common sense. Be assured that you’re not alone.

I can think of a couple groups that would be punished for acknowledging their own pride.
