SEATTLE (AP) -- Demonstrations against Islamic law Saturday in cities across the U.S. drew counter-protests by people who said they stoked unfounded fears and a distorted view of the religion.
Hundreds marched through downtown Seattle, banging drums, cymbals and cowbells behind a large sign saying "Seattle stands with our Muslim neighbors." Participants chanted "No hate, no fear, Muslims are welcome here" on their way to City Hall, while a phalanx of bicycle police officers separated them from an anti-Shariah rally numbering in the dozens.
In front of the Trump building in downtown Chicago, about 30 people demonstrated against Islamic law and in favor of President Donald Trump, shouting slogans and holding signs that read "Ban Sharia" and "Sharia abuses women." About twice as many counter-protesters marshaled across the street.
A similar scene played out in a park near a New York courthouse, where counter-protesters sounded air-horns and banged pots and pans in an effort to silence an anti-Shariah rally.
"The theme of today is drowning out racism," said counter-protester Tony Murphy, standing next to demonstrators with colorful earplugs. "The more racists get a platform, the more people get attacked."
The rallies, held in more than two dozen U.S. cities, were organized by ACT for America, which claims Islamic law is incompatible with Western democracy

Racism? What the F does racism have to do with being against THE most oppressive ideology against women and gays in the world? Liberals are freakin’ blind, they really are. They only see what they want to see. This is like protesting Nazism and saying it’s racist against Germans.
Is someone out there taking pictures of the people who are demonstrating in favor of sharia law? These pro-sharia demonstrators are traitors to our constitution.
You have to call everything “racism”. If -through sophistry - you can leverage the argument in any way by this tactic, then it should be done. The Left uses it all the time.
I was just on another thread where an apparent “Freeper” accused another Freeper of racism because he simply didn’t believe in the absolute free-flow of labor between nations in Europe...yup....no kidding.
What is defensible about Sharia law? Is this code so integral to Islam it cannot be separated?
There is no way to make Sharia law compatible with basic human rights. As such, it is in conflict with the law codes of just about every nation that subscribes to a different law code.
There is no mercy, no appeal, and very little or no justice in Sharia law.
Let them have their sharia law in the US. In the interment camps.

They want to shut down the conversation - since they don't support sharia (at least as applied to themselves), but are afraid to say so because they have a well founded fear that their heads would be cut off.
That’s because to liberals everything is racism even if race isn’t even involved!
