That makes no sense. Don’t believe the official explanations when they are illogical. There is already a joint US/Qatari airbase in Qatar. US forces are there at all times. A tiny Turkish presence is not needed to deter an attack from Iran, whom Qatar has a good relationship anyway.

The reason for the Turkish presence has always been for a situation like now. Turkey’s Muslim Brotherhood government was supported by Qatar and now they are supporting Qatar against anti-MB forces.

You are also buying into a larger false narrative that seeks to shift blame for Sunni Arabs countries’ mistakes(like supporting ISIS and al-Qaeda) to the US for not attacking Iran for them. This is basically a Sunni jihadist narrative of world affairs that seeks to shift blame to non-Sunnis for Sunni terrorism, extremism, intolerance etc. It’s basically a “he a good boy, he didn’t do nothing” line applied to the Middle East. The establishment is using this narrative to justify support for brutal, totalitarian Sunni dictatorships that persecute Christians so that they can sell weapons to them.

Well! We don’t get many Obama defenders here. But I suggest you defend something beside the contribution of his Iran policies to ME stability LOL!
Qatar has probably the most convoluted foreign policies of all the ME States. Friend and enemy to everyone. It’s not simple, sorry.
It’s not just their support of the MB that’s in play.
