Why do liberal types think, that if they raise taxes on a business, that somehow the taxes won’t eventually be passed on to the customers of that business??

Maybe a few believe it, but the real reason is that a lie (taxing "corporations") is palatable whenever it involves other peoples' money.

You see, commies believe that everyone's money belongs to them. By "taxing" corporations it makes extortion seem legal and fair. All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others...and some animals are naturally more stupid.

The stupid ones are those who actually believe that corporations pay taxes. The commies really don't care as long as they get their "share", and they need the stupid ones to vote for higher taxes. Bread, circuses, and voting yourself other peoples' money.

Human nature hasn't changed.

Yup. If the tax is solely on DISTRIBUTORS as they say, then all distributors in the City of Seattle are going to either move or go out of business.

$2.52 per 12 pack of soda, that’s a huge tax.

It sounds cheap when you say...1.75 cents per ounce. Stupid people will always fall for it if it's "cheap"

The supermarkets around here were banned from providing plastic bags as it is suppose to be bad for the planet.... What do you know, you can get even thicker plastic bags at the same supermarkets but you have to pay .10 cents each!

In short just a money grab from those that own the supermarkets who then kick back some of the money to the politicians as bribes.

I foresee the emergence of enterprising smugglers for these goods.

I really don’t believe they care about raising the money they just want to control what you drink or eat.

This is to “Nudge” you into drinking and eating less sugar.

Eff them.

Community groups backed the measure because it would direct money to programs aimed at helping working families that can't afford healthy foods.

See, this is why there are food deserts in the cities.

Just another unintended consequence of leftism.

These programs are likely federally-funded. Instead of directing the program to buy healthy foods such as fruits and vegetables and other items so they can be cooked, liberals put little or no restrictions on what SNAP cards can buy.

So now the people that are on SNAP, are using it to buy soda, pre-packaged meals, and hot deli items that will be consumed that day.

Now the Left, instead of simply streamlining these programs and state that one can only buy healthy food with them, they decide to punish everyone, including the people on SNAP more.

The SNAP cardholders will buy more and more soda and other aforementioned meals and items at a higher value. This in turn will cause the Left to scream about high food prices and that we need to expand SNAP even more.

Now the GOP should immediately get these items removed from the list of items Welfare recipients can purchase.

They won't because they have already accepted the premise that the government should subsidy people's food. If they even restrict the program they'll get called names and immediately vote to fund the program even more.

That is partially why food prices are high. It's because food is heavily subsidized by government and crony-capitalists are lobbying government to exempt their products from regulation.

Liberals are stone-cold stupid apes. That money will go into the pockets of leftist politicians and retired city bureaucrat goons.

Here’s a list of things they can do:

Ban the sale of non-sustainable, wild-caught fish and shellfish,

Ban fossil fuel vehicles from downtown, including I-5,

Require retrofitting of all buildings in Seattle to withstand the Cascadia super-quake,

Oh, and build a 35 meter tsunami wall while they’re at it,

........
