AFTER THE LIBERATION OF MOSUL: LAST STAND FOR CHRISTIANS IN IRAQ
Jerusalem Post ^ | June 5, 2017 | Lars Adaktusson

The number of Christians in Iraq has decreased from 1.5 million 15 years ago to a couple of hundred thousand today. As the battle of Mosul comes to an end and Islamic State (ISIS) about to be defeated in Iraq, rapid action from the international community needs to be taken to safeguard the existence of Christians in the country. This is their last stand.

The battle of Mosul, Iraq’s second city, is in its final stages. Predictions are that the city might be fully liberated before the end of Ramadan. While, due to a decade of persecution of “infidels” in Mosul, no Christians (Chaldeans/Syriacs/Assyrians) are expected to return to their homes in the city, there is still hope for the return of internally displaced persons (IDPs) and refugees to the ancient Christian villages of the surrounding Nineveh Plains.

I have read someone commented the problem the Christians in the Middle East face is the Western Left hates them for being Christian but their Christian brethren in the West are not big fans either because they are too different.

We should insist these countries protect Christians and any religious minority, and after that we should really insist. If they insist on genocide then there needs to be a societal change, i.e. deislamization.

Syrian Kurds are not the same as Iraq Kurds.

And I can show you that there is strong Christian support in the US of the Christians of all types in the Middle East.

Obama did hate Christians everywhere. He is out of power for good.

Having worked with missionaries who help them out, the Syrian, Lebanese, and Iraqi Christians who are being persecuted actually feel sorry for western Christians because of our circumstances.

That sounds morbid at first glance, but they are proving their faith daily. It’s actually amazing what is going on over there conversion-wise.

A simple Muslim father of 5 in northern Syria had his home destroyed 3 times (and rebuilt). His family sought help in the camps where Christian aid workers brought his children to the Lord. He saw the change, came to talk to a male counselor and he also became a Christian!

Stuff like this is happening a lot over there. I pray if severe diabolical persecution comes this way (which it’s starting to rear it’s head), that I’m brave enough to face it the way these precious people do.

It was news to most of the people at FR that there were Christians in Iraq. The comment above, that they were’t the right kind of Christian for American evangelical sensibilities, is true.

The Knights of Columbus are the only Catholics trying to help. Pope Useless I bows to Allah when not bowing to Che.

This time it is Bush's fault.

It certainly is. Also: Dick Cheney, Richard Perle, Conrad Black, Grank Gaffney, Paul Wolfowitz, John Bolton, Donald Rumsfeld, Elliot Abrams, Condi Rice, Colin Powell, Douglas Feith, Bill Kristol...the list goes on and on. Lots of Israel-supporters were happy to see Saddam's butt get kicked, without regard for the larger consequences of regional instability, unleashing radical islam, and, in particular, the welfare of indigenous, ancient Christian communities that would pay the price for neocon adventurism and moral showboating. Pat Buchanan tried to warn the right, but war fever was raging and questioning the neocon agenda at this site -- or even calling it by name -- was as good as posting a "Ban me" opus.
