Fort Huachuca celebrates the Army’s birthday

FORT HUACHUCA —The U.S. Army has been the strength of our nation for 242 years. On June 14 , Fort Huachuca honors that service by hosting the U.S. Army Birthday Run and immediately following, conduct an Army Birthday Cake Cutting Ceremony. This event is open to the public. This year's Army birthday theme is "Over there! A Celebration of the WWI Soldier."

Fort Huachuca provides support to the 242 Army Birthday Celebration 6 a.m., June 14 at Warrior/Sentinel Field to celebrate the establishment of the U.S. Army and honor its 242 years of honorable service to the nation.

Units will run in company formations through a designated 2.5-mile course. At completion of run, units will conduct cool down and form up for the cake cutting ceremony.

The Army Birthday Cake Cutting Ceremony follows at the completion of the run, approximately 7 a.m. The ceremony includes an invocation given by a chaplain, cake cutting by the installation's youngest and oldest soldiers.

Celebrate the Army's 242nd birthday with lunch at the Thunderbird Dining Facility 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The meal is open to the public. Standard meal rate for soldiers and civilians is $9.05. Discount meal rate for family members of E-4 and below is $6.80.
