Trump Critic Is Essentially Running American Foreign Policy
Daily Caller ^ | 06/05/2017 | ALEX PFEIFFER

Brian Hook, a noted Trump critic during the presidential election, is a key figure in a State Department containing many unfilled positions.

Hook is the State Department’s director of policy planning, and a Politico report Sunday citing several officials said that Hook has an inordinate amount of power in shaping American foreign policy. A State Department official confirmed this description of Hook to The Daily Caller.

The position of director of policy planning is usually an important one and serves as a think tank of sorts for the department. However, with many unfilled roles at the State Department, Hook has held even more power than previous office holders, Politico reported. 112 positions requiring Senate confirmation are currently empty at the State Department.

Hook’s influential role is noteworthy due to the fact that he ran an organization that criticized Trump during the campaign, as well as the fact that Hook himself came out against then-candidate Trump’s policies.

Hook, a former Bush administration official, served as a foreign policy adviser for Mitt Romney’s 2012 presidential campaign and co-founded the John Hay Initiative. This is a neoconservative group that organized a letter of over 100 Republican foreign policy experts that refused to back Trump’s foreign policy. Hook himself didn’t sign the letter.

Fire him immediately. An empty position would be far more preferable than one occupied by an enemy.

Many of these positions are duplication of efforts. Trump should get rid of all the political appointments by Obummer. Millions would be saved.

Should have had the hook months ago.

But Trump erred in his early hiring strategy. I thought he was going to start a shakeup last week? By listening to Jivanka, he has put so many GOPe and Democrat heads in his administration that need to roll that it is embarrassing.

But better to have done with it and move on than to limp along as is.

I don't mind a critic. Having an administration of pure sycophants would be dangerous and short-sighted. I want several excellent minds giving our President excellent advice from several perspectives, and hopefully the best choices will be made from among them. I don't want a King Donald ruling over a bunch of empty-headed drones.

But "Trump-critic" can also be a euphemism for an inflexible and disobedient obstacle to implementing policy ideas that have survived the crucible of inspection and debate from those excellent advisors, and preventing us from moving forward and away from the Obama-debacles.

By hook or by crook, the deep state aims to have their way.

It's way past time that these positions were filled. I don't understand why President Trump didn't have people lined up to appoint to positions. He had two months between election and inauguration.

I'm 100% with President Trump. It does seem the leaking has stopped, so maybe they finally cleaned out the swampthings from the WH inner circle. But key Ambassadorships and State Department positions? Obama's traitors have to be removed, yesterday.

I don't mind having a critic

I do when they go public or leak a policy difference that undermines the administration.

I think it now goes more like DJT picks up the phone and calls whatever country and says ‘here’s our policy with you’ and hangs up. Thank God.

Here’s what Brad Parscale retweeted about Jared. If you remember Brad was Trump’s data guy and widely credited as a huge reason Trump won. Jared has long been credited as being a huge reason Trump won;

Everybody who wants to #FireKushner needs to remember this, second only to #TRUMP, Jared was the most valuable person in the campaign! #MAGA pic.twitter.com/01ngwgX5il — Trump Super PAC 🇺🇸 (@TrumpSuperPAC) April 8, 2017

Kushner is the guy who convinced Trump to hire Priebus, from which many of the admin’s staffing errors and undermining have sprung.

He and Ivanka have been at the center of pretty much every bad policy position pushed at the WH.

As to Parscale, his company sucked up $94M from the Trump campaign, primarily for ad placement—a position from which sucking up to Jivanka is obviously key.

If not for Brad, Jared, and Reince Trump would not be president. Would that be better?

Priebus also steered RNC funds that should have gone to the presidential candidate to local races after the Bush tape came out. He was only involved with Trump as last resort. And he has brought into the administration all sorts of GOPe Never Trump obstructionists and traitors.

Nobody gets to be president without sufficient support from family, but that doesn’t make rank nepotism a very bad idea.

And many others could have fulfilled Brad’s role—from building a website to cashing a percentage of campaign media buys.

But no matter, even your mistaken view of their singular importance to Trump winning doesn’t justify bringing traitors and Democrats into the WH. Trump’s voters didn’t vote for either.

I’m hoping for a government shutdown whereby Trump can shut down most of nonessential government without pay without taking any heat. Oh, strike that, he will take heat, but that’s OK, I like to see lib heads exploding.

If he’s such a good friend of Trump’s why hasn’t he convinced Trump to fire Reince?

It’s speculation, and conclusions based on speculation, just like what Putin told Megyn the Russia allegations are.
