May is done, she is down to a one point lead in the polls. If she invokes the Emergency War Measures Act and rounded up every radical jihadhi in Britain, and then closed every madrassa, she might have a chance to win the election.

Different situation - while Tony Blair had announced that he planned to hold the election on May 3rd, Parliament was not dissolved to set the process in motion, so no writs were issued for that date. Therefore when Blair made the decision to delay on 2nd April 2001, there was nothing constitutionally unusual about the situation. In fact, Parliament sat after that decision to pass the legislation needed to stop the local council elections that were also supposed to be held on May 3rd.
Parliament wasn't dissolved until May 14th, 2001.
It's a different situation from today when Parliament has been dissolved, and writs have been issued.

I really fear that the British public will vote for Labour in an act of appeasement, hoping that a more pro-multiculturalism government will buy some peace with their Muslim “community”. I remember what happened with the election in Spain right after a Muslim train attack not too long after our 9/11. The center right incumbents were swept out in favor of the left.

One poll says that (the Mail on Sunday). Other, larger polls, still have her between 4 to 12 points ahead. That's a considerable narrowing from the 20+ points she had at the start of the campaign, but on currently available polling, the Conservatives are still odds on favourites to win.
Of the seven major seat projection polls, six still give the Conservatives a majority, while the seventh has them forming a minority government with close to fifty more seats than Labour. I personally lean towards Lord Ashcroft's estimates which would give the Conservatives an overall majority of 30, with around 130 more seats than Labour.
All those reported before the current attacks which may change things, but the reports about a one point lead are based on only one panel, and it's an outlier.
Some pols would love to delay the election, hope people go back to to their complacency, then get themselves reelected.

She can't. He's not an MP, he's not running as an MP, and his name is Farage (not that that really matters but just for the record). She can't resign her position in his favour.
Theoretically he could take over, but he'd have to contest a by-election first - and then convince the Conservative Party to elect him leader (assuming they do win the election and take office).
At the moment, based on the polls, I do expect a Conservative victory, but the majority may be small enough (or there may be a hung Parliament) to make May's position untenable - a narrow win when you started the campaign looking at a landslide is not a good result - but she can't appoint an annointed successor. If she's out the Conservatives will choose somebody else and it's unlikely to be somebody who left the Conservative Party in 1992.

Just what I was also thinking. They’re taking themselves seriously as a country when the BEST they can hope for is winning the inevitable civil war that will start in 10 years, 20 years at most.
Yes, I had to look it up myself. I knew that the 2001 election was considered delayed, but I wasn't sure of the exact circumstances without checking.

I hope there isn't one as well. The only thing that might justify it in my opinion is if there was very credible evidence of threatened attacks on polling stations - and even then, I think it would be sending a terrible message to postpone. But that's easy to say when you're not the one responsible for the lives of those who could be killed. The Prime Minister must act on the best information she has and obviously I have no idea what that is.

The Tories cheated a lot in that election and one of their winning candidates, the guy who beat Nigel Farage in South Thanet, was charged with violating election law on Friday.
