“Seth Richs father Joel told reporters, If it was a robbery it failed...”
“was a robbery”??
The murder occurred first.
I have always wondered why his father would use “failed robbery” or would emphasize it above the cold-blooded murder. Most would say “attempted robbery”. The press picked up the “failed robbery” meme and it is used countless times by them. “Failed robbery” is used to direct and absorb motive, case closed. Move on. Nothing more to see.
It was also a failed arson.
A failed sexual assault.
A failed driving test.
A failed cricket match.
Because none of those things happened either.
What did happen? A murder. That's it. Nothing else.
Maybe it WAS a robbery. Perpetrator got what he was after, like a thumb drive.
And what kind of parent (would they be like the paid off Mary Jo Kopechne parents who clammed up, thanks to the kennedy mobsters) would deliver such a specifically worded conditional phrase used to dissuade further press inquiries— “IF it was a robbery (eliminates IF it was a murder— because it was)... it failed”
Question is— had the Bauman mouthpiece gotten to them before the public/press statement... doing the writing. Don’t know the timelime- worth looking into.

George Webb calls it a “school play”. Bad acting and cheap scenery.
