Paris Agreement on climate change: US withdraws as Trump calls it 'unfair'

After days of drama and suspense, President Trump announced Thursday that his administration will exit the Paris climate agreement.

"So we're getting out," Trump said. "The Paris accord is very unfair at the highest level to the United States."

His decision fulfills a campaign promise and satisfies strong Republican opposition to the global climate deal but isolates the U.S. and is certain to bring condemnation from world leaders and critics in the scientific community.

Leaving the accord aligns the United States with Syria and Nicaragua.

Critics argue it will hurt the economy but supporters say it will create jobs down the line.

Trump promoted his announcement Wednesday on Twitter – prompting American allies around the world to weigh in on the consequences of the U.S. withdrawing from the global pact.

Though there are no legal ramifications for pulling out of the accord, it does alienate America and diminish its standing as a global leader.

Trump, who made his statement from the White House Rose Garden, campaigned against the climate agreement during the 2016 election season

This aligns the US with the American people not with any other governments. Also you can’t withdraw from that you were never in since it was never ratified.

More condemnation from world leaders and critics? Meh...

Leaving the accord aligns the United States with Syria and Nicaragua....

.....and China and most of the rest of the world.

Go Trump ! He’s keeping America free and prosperous!

The only reason any of you , any American now has any freedom or any rights including the right to own property is because Donald Trump made the greatest sacrifice risking it all to save America from a fate worse than death a Hillary Clinton socialist dictatorship.

Trump didn’t have to do this. He had a great life. I wouldn’t have . So Trump is a better man than me. He didn’t need to do this to gain wealth or power or a better life because Trump had power and wealth and the greatest life a human could have.

Now he is a media punching bag. The liberal media from a million media outlets is constantly demonizing Trump every second of every day. No one deserves this torture of massive media destruction . What are Trump’s crimes ? He wants to make America great again and for that the the media has to destroy him. I couldn’t take that constant bashing and hate from the media for all the world to see every second . No one could .

I don’t know how Trumps takes all that unfair media bashing and lies . He truly is the greatest hero taking all this media constant torture for us : to keep America free and immigrants out etc. Hillary would have invited all the 3rd world hordes into America including Muslims to destroy America

Did anyone ever say how we were going to achieve stated goals of said agreement. From what I heard..it was a treaty to rest of world..but obama didnt want a congrssional vote needed for ratification so he entered an “agreement” with no oversight...it had to be exited
..if you want to have real success in climate control...you need a well delineated program...not just a bunch of promises..and a way to verity success or failure..very ineffective treaty at this time...not to mention a governments arbitrary control of industries
..soft communism...

Folks, may I have your attention for a moment?

Out of respect for them, I would like to ask that we conduct a moment of silence on Free Republic for the Concern Trolls.

For the same reason, I would like to ask that we conduct a moment of silence for those who have spewed vile attacks on Ivanka and Jared Kushner for months on end now.

Shall we bow our heads...

“.............................................................................................................................................”

Thank you folks. It isn’t without some trepidation for them, that I reflect on this tremendous loss for the Weaselly American Concern Troll.

I wish I could express remorse at the loss, but frankly folks, we tried to warn you off this behavior.

You refused to listen.

This is all on you. Enjoy the ear to ear egg.

Now the EPA needs to be reduced to one guy manning an observation post in the Aleutian Islands with binoculars looking for floating plastic debris.

I’ve been thinking of this in terms of a “redistribution of wealth” scheme, so I really liked hearing Trump use those exact words. I’m glad too he laid out the specifics on what it allowed our competitors China and India to do versus how much it handicapped our industries, even though we already have much better environmental standards. So many Americans don’t seem to understand the thinly veiled anti-Americanism of the Paris Accord.

well I disagree with the article, that it ‘diminishes’ the US.

And I also disagree that we ‘aren’t allowed’ to pull out formally until 2020.

The Paris Accord has no legal standing to sue us for withdrawing. So F’em.

I turned on Fox to watch President Trumps speech and this moron was on. I immediately turned on the radio and listened to Sean.
