Democratic Sen. Debbie Stabenow received her first Republican challenger as businesswoman Lena Epstein announced her candidacy for Michigan's Senate race.
Epstein is a third-generation co-owner of Vesco Oil Corp., which distributes automotive and industrial lubricants.
Epstein also served as co-chair of President Donald Trumps campaign in the state, where he became the first Republican to win Michigan since George H.W. Bush won in 1988.
In a statement announcing her run, Epstein portrayed herself as an outsider in the Trump mold.
Michigan spoke loud and clear in the last election we want an outsider with business leadership skills who can inspire the people of Michigan with a bright vision for the future.
Epsteins website shows a video saying she wants to promote job creation and manufacturing, which could be a popular slogan in the home state of Ford and General Motors. It also shows her work on the Trump campaign.
In 2012, Epstein was appointed by Gov. Rick Snyder to serve on the states Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention Board.

Trump needs to campaign for her. Stabenow has the intellect of a milk cow. Today’s decision on the Paris Climate Disgrace should help a lot in Michigan.
Stabmenow
Stabacow
Okay, got that out of my system.

Good, stabenow is totally incompetent
And, now the GOPe will add a dozen clowns to dilute the vote so their designated sacrifice will win the project mary and fold in the general.
That is “primary”!
You go for it girl! We’re behind you 100%
Watch the Stupid Party recruit some establishment schmuck to run against her and then yell at conservatives for voting for someone who’s “unelectable.”
She’s got my vote! (A potted plant would get my vote over Debbie...)
It will be interesting if Ted Nugent also runs.
Every time I see Stabenow I think how did this vile woman
become Senator? It is one of the great mysteries up here in Mi.
Her looks are better than Debbie StabUSintheback. Might have to donate to her campaign.
How about Al Franken ??
Goes to show - put a D next to name and how many idiots come
out of woodwork to vote for.......
Can she win? Is she the best candidate? Remember. The Gov is term limited.
was stabenow’s husband that was busted with a prostitute?
Never under estimate the Power of Covfefe.
Go Epstein, Make Michigan Great Again.
I believe so. But remember, sexual scandals are résumé enhancers for Dems.

A higher profile challenger is entering the race, Former State Supreme Court Chief Justice Bob Young, an African-American.
He’s a little old (for a non-incumbent) at 66.
I don’t care if he’s 166, Bob Young is a first-tier candidate who has won statewide before, is a proven (judicial) conservative, and can cut into the RAT’s strongest constituency (or at least make it more difficult for RATs to run a “Republicans want to put y’all back in chains” campaign to gin up turnout in Detroit). If Chief Justice Young’s age prevents him from serving more than two Senate terms, I’ll take those 12 years of a conservative Republican U.S. Senator from Michigan, thank you very much, and we can take our chances in the 2030 midterm elections.
This is extremely good news, up there with State Treasurer Josh Mandel taking on Sen. Sherrod Brown (and leading in the polls) in OH, Congresswoman Ann Wagner running against Sen. Claire McCaskill in MO and Congressman Evan Jenkins running against Sen. Joe Manchin in WV. Now we need equally strong challengers in ND (Kevin Cramer?), IN (Luke Messer?), MT (Ryan Zinke?), WI (Rebecca Kleefisch?), MN (Erik Paulsen?), PA (Lou Barletta?), FL (Rick Scott?), VA (Barbara Comstock?), ME (Bruce Poliquin?), NM (Susana Martinez?), NJ (Tom McArthur?), WA (Dave Reichert?) and CT (Tony Hwang?).
MI Senate races have been so disappointing going all the way back this creature’s initial election in 2000. I really want this one!
No announcement yet but Gunzburger reports Young will enter the race next week.
