Gowdy is trying and seems to be asking the right questions to expose some of the swamp. This is a step in the right direction!
This is more than most of the GOPe is doing right now so maybe we all could react less negatively to his efforts.
Not from everything! His recusal is narrow. He is "out" of investigating and prosecuting wrongdoing by the Trump campaign. Rightfully so, he was arguably part of that campaign, so has a self-serving interest to give himself and the campaign a pass.
Samantha Powers subpoena is really significant. What was the UN Ambassador doing requesting unmaskings? Is she the ambassador that Trey Gowdy was asking John Brennan about? If so this is going to fry Brennan. He lied in his response and you could tell that the question pretty much knocked him back on his heels. He wasn’t expecting that at all.
You're right. I just posted in another reply that the question knocked Brennan back on his heels. He clearly wasn't expecting it and his face looked like "oh crap...what does this guy know'? He didn't know the answer to his own question so he lied without technically lying. He said it may be ringing some bells in the back of his mind but at this time he couldn't remember. Yeah right!

To wit, what is the single most important political base blocking Trump's agenda? That's right, it's not the rapid leftists, but rather good old uni-party aka swamp.
So, the second most important election - after Trump's of course - are the upcoming 2018 mid-terms. This is were the long-term planning is directed. Think about how long D-day was planned. 18 months? Sounds about right.
Everyone, not just Americans, not just voters, have a short attention span. If the details were to spill out now, they'd be "old news" in 18 months. Trump, like any entertainment savvy person, knows he has pure gold.
This little drama is going to play out over the next 18 mos like a hit episodic TV show, with new revelations made week after week after week. The full scale of the illegality and massive corruption should reach a crescendo around Oct-Nov '18.
If Trump can capture both branches of Congress, then the true roll-back of 50-60 years of anti-constitutional movement can finally go on the offensive. This is definitely a war, just a cold one, but the same strategic planning & carefully rolled out timelines still apply.
Interesting take by Rosen about Trey Gowdy’s inquiry towards Jon Brennan during his testimony regarding whether he was aware that any US Ambassadors had requested unmasking (video link below). Rosen stated that Samantha Power’s number of requests for unmasking eclipsed even those of of Brennan and Rice!

Brennan appeared nonplussed by that question. In light of events of this past year it is about as likely that he wouldn’t recall any U.S. ambassadors requesting unmasking as it would be that Hillary can’t recall the name of the person who told her that the Benghazi 9/11 was due to a video.
The Trump/Russia $hitstorm was set in motion purely as a preemptive counter to this very story. This will make Watergate and Clinton-era Filegate pale in comparison. Prayerfully there will be many Obama administration officials and hopefully even Obama go down for this one.
Just reading parts of the hearing transcript, Brennan is a duplicitous weasel, hypertechnical parsing all over the place. He’ll lie to the bitter end. Same cloth as crooked Hillary.

I used Ctrl-F to search both transcripts for mentions of the name "Clinton" to see if there were any references to Russian attempts to influence the Clinton campaign. There is not one such reference. Are we to assume that the Russians attempted to an influence an election by working with the underdog only? Wouldn't their assets have been better utilized attempting to get the "sure winner" to take-a-dive (call half of voters deplorable)? Aren't these obvious questions?
Yep - Gowdy obviously knows something and Brennan realized that as he stuttered his “I kinda sorta don’t really recall such” and it was obvious he was a bit nervous with the question and the way it was posed. I think Gowdy may finally redeem himself in the eyes of those who keep slamming him for not doing things he didn’t have the power to do - his teeth are in full bite mode.
