You don’t understand what the debt ceiling is. It provides for paying debt already incurred. It has nothing to do with a future budget. Is it a stupid system? You bet.
I most surely do know what the debt ceiling is, but you have proven that you do not. I also know that, theoretically if not in practice, it is meant to LIMIT the amount of debt our country incurs. Your statement “it provides for paying debt already incurred” is INCORRECT. Borrowing more does NOT “pay for debt”. Borrowing more is increased deficit spending. And as I already explained the spending is IN ADDITION to what had been passed in the last budget.
