Scoop: Trump's comms director leaving White House
Axios ^ | May 30, 2017 | Mike Allen

Posted on 05/30/2017 6:40:09 AM PDT by monkapotamus

Mike Dubke, President Trump's communications director, is leaving the White House — the start of a wave of changes as the West Wing struggles to cope with burgeoning scandals and a stalled agenda...

Bring in the killers ... Trump is considering much broader changes, including the possibility of bringing in David Urban, a prominent GOP lobbyist who was a senior adviser on the campaign, as chief of staff.

Trump met yesterday with two top officials from his campaign, Corey Lewandowski and David Bossie, about joining the crisis-communications war room he's setting up, perhaps as part of an outside-inside duet...

Sean Spicer will stay as press secretary, but will do fewer on-camera briefings (although he's on-camera today at 2 p.m.)

More briefings will be on-record but off-camera.

We've been saying this here on FR for awhile. I'm a bit disappointed that the Leakers weren't brought away in handcuffs and charged with treason before President Trump returned to DC. It's only that kind of dramatic action that will thwart the coup.

What we've been saying? President Trump needs to surround himself with a lean, 100% loyal WH staff. That includes in their personal lives. The only way to stop the leaks is to not talk or govern anywhere near the scum who aren't 100% committed to the Deplorable Agenda. If that involves getting The Princess back to NYC, I'm 100% for that.

Amen.

Trump needs to treat establishment political types like Mattis treats isis.

Annihilation.

“I’m a bit disappointed that the Leakers weren’t brought away in handcuffs and charged with treason...”

Some caution is advisable here - seeking retribution against “the leakers” reinforces the narrative that the leaks and the leakers are real.

Remember Trump himself just tweeted upon his return that these supposedly leaked stories may be fake news, especially if they begin with “according to unnamed sources within the administration”.

The fake news is taking advantage of the fact that Trump supporters will naturally rise to Trump’s defense - so they set up a straw man (the Leaker) knowing we will be furious - we are getting our buttons pushed.

The real enemy is the fake news.

I’m not saying there are never leaks - I know there are.

I’m just saying - listen to Trump’s own words of caution the other day - be careful when the fake news makes up stories out of thin air and attributes them to leaks.

Consider the source - these so-called leakers may not even exist - it’s just the fake news constantly trying to paint a picture that the Trump administration is in turmoil, fraught with infighting, backstabbing and yes, leaks.

McMaster did what needs to be done this weekend. He got out there and when asked about "the WH scandal with Russia" explained that it's nothing out of the ordinary to have a way to communicate privately with all world leaders, friends or not. That's what we need, of course. Strong on-message loyal people being the only ones who speak for the administration.

Examples I don't understand of some happenings....Nikki Haley talking about regime change instead of on getting together to annihilate ISIS. Gary Cohn (sp) saying coal is obsolete. Ivanka Trump meeting privately with Planned Parenthood and saying afterward they don't perform abortions. This has to end.

Also, there HAVE to be some patriotic folks in DC who will get McCain locked up in a padded room for good. His insane ravings have become the "go to" for media hacks who want to demonstrate bipartisan opposition to Trump.

I have in Trump’s corner since his first speech in AZ after he announced his candidacy for President.

Having said that ... If anything that Trump has done to date during his presidency that I strongly disagree with is to bring his daughter and her husband into the inner sanctum of his govt. I strongly detest nepotism but I am not naive to know that it occurs everywhere.

They have no damn business being there in a official capacity. What are their qualifications other than being family? Sure, we know Trump trusts their judgement but damn, this complication just adds another target dimension on Trump’s back.

I completely agree that Haley and Cohn’s off message comments are disturbing - they are high level appointees and must not be allowed to go off message. These are good examples of where the Trump administration needs to get its act together.

McCain, well I agree there too - but there’s not much Trump can do about him.

As for Ivanka, I did a little googling and could not find where she said that. I did find some statements by the PP director Ivanka met with, explaining why they met from her point of view. If you can provide a link - preferably a video, or at least a credible transcript, I’d appreciate it. Meanwhile, I’m doubtful she made such a statement. Even if she did, I don’t think her token role as adviser requires her to be as on message as say, if she had a real role i.e. the director of Health and Human Services.

I know if I were POTUS, and one of my adult children expressed interest I would give them a token job title such as Special Advisor rather than say no. Face it, they are going to have access anyway, so what’s the harm?

Not to be flip, but I really don’t think we have to worry about Ivanka and Jared taking over Trump’s mind.

My point in the previous post was not to deny there are some areas where Trump has to get his act together. There are. My point was that the fake news is working day and night to create the impression that the Trump administration is a disaster - fraught with chaos, turmoil, infighting, broken campaign promises, hidden agendas, backstabbing, nepotism, obstruction, conflict of interest and leaking.

Trump is doing fine - the fake news invents these stories out of thin air and reports them as if they are news. Since there is no source they attribute them to leaks. We dutifully read the news and repost the stories on FR, then talk about them as if they are true.

News wise this is a "nothing burger."

This is just part of the day to day tweaks designed to improve the process of running the WH and improving the administrations effectiveness.

Exactly, it's repositioning now that it's certain the media is not reporting news but is in business soley to destroy Trump. No one could have believed the media would be this dishonest and corrupt, therefore Trump will now put in place a team to deal with the media's dishonesty.

Interesting- David Urban’s a professor and a CNN commentator.
Nothing much on him on FR. Wonder why this fell through.

Urban was an adjunct professor at Carnegie Mellon University’s H. John Heinz III School of Public Policy and Management-— wikipedia
