If she starts making serious gestures at running in 2020, she will be informed politely, but firmly, that it's time to retire. If she persists...well Obama’s habit of spying on his opponents guarantees he has enough dirt on the Clintons to bury them both a mile deep...

Her chances depend a lot on the Russia story. If the media has 60% of Democrats convinced that Russia helped Trump steal the 2016 election as of the beginning of the 2020 primary season, she might be able to elbow her way to another nomination. Or maybe Mueller will help her out with some fake documents (like Dan Rather tried to help Kerry in 2004).

The Democrat rank and file would probably prefer someone else. She may be as far to the left ideologically as any of them, but the Clintons' greed has meant that their desire for cash has caused them to deviate from the pure leftist line from time to time, and some Democrats will hold that against her.
