The Pentagon wants the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to repeal, modify or clarify nearly two dozen regulations that create extra layers of red tape and compliance for military operations.
EPA has been accepting public comments since April on which regulations should be rescinded or modified. The Department of Defense was quick to submit a draft memo to EPA in April detailing 22 regulations they want to see repealed or change.
In one instance, the Pentagon asked the EPA to modify a regulation on hazardous emissions from internal combustion engines. That rule requires military maintenance crews to change engine oil and filters every 500 hours of use a year, which applies to all sorts of equipment, from tractors to bulldozers to lawnmowers.
The Pentagon said the rule is an unnecessary burden since [m]any times the oil does not need to be changed annually.

Had no idea that EPA rules applied to the military. That needs to change.
epa rules apply to everybody. Even you. LOL!
EPA rules led to the replacement of the foam on the Shuttle external tank. The inferior foam routinely broke up on lift- off, damaging the shuttle tiles, and ultimately leading to the Columbia breakup on re-entry.
When I was in the Army, Humvees were relatively new. I remember that each had a sticker under the hood, explaining which EPA rule it was exempt from. Naive, I thought it odd that the Army cared one bit about the EPA.
Maybe we can also get rid of “green’ fuel for the military. Biofuel for ships: $27 per gallon. Jet fuel from algae: $150 per gallon. http://dailycaller.com/2016/01/12/net-zero-progress-8-years-later-and-the-militarys-green-energy-plan-is-still-unrealistic-and-cost-prohibitive/
I had never heard that...so I just looked it up. The shuttle ripped apart because of nonsense about a freaking hole in the ozone layer! The tragic part is that by 2003, the ozome hole was passe, and we had moved on to destruction from ‘climate change’.
2 things:
1. EPA rules only apply domestically.
2. The military is responsible for some of the most heinous acts of pollution in US history.
Don’t be fooled by those who seek to take advantage of our support for the military. I’m all for killing the EPA, but certainly not for green-lighting reckless acts on our own soil (past acts of which we are all still paying for to this day and into future gwnerations due to poor leadership decisions).
In which Congress-critter’s district was the firm that printed the stickers located?
Kick-backs come in many forms.
We need to take the EPA rules back to the pre-Clinton days and start fresh from there. We also need to ensure that Any change must be approved by congress, and that NO federal agency is given free reign to change regulations without specific congressional approval.
Part of the reason that entities like the EPA have run amok is that they have no real oversight. They invent a demon, then go on to attack it without any repercussions.
Oh yeah. Individual state and foreign ally rules too. And there’s often confusion about which rules to follow, what rules mean, who’s responsible, reprimands, priority - then add the usual personnel turnover.
This is your out-of-scale, self-licking-ice-cream-cone government.
For some reason that reminds me of a housing project at Ft Riley. Costs were higher than expected...because they were required to used ‘metric lumber’. I always wondered which congressman had a brother in law who owned a metric lumber mill.
Another favorite of mine was tank sprockets. There are 4 to a tank...usually changed in sets of 2 or 4. So, naturally you could only order them in sets if 3.
Rules in a knife fight?

Get rid of ‘green’ ammo, go back to lead.
The EPA was run by snowflakes for years... it’ll take time to undo their damage.
The EPA was run by snowflakes for years... it’ll take time to undo their damage, but this is a good place to start.
Just eliminate the EPA completely .. problem solved
