Syrian Kurdish fighters of the People’s Protection Units (YPG) on Thursday shelled a Turkish army base near Afrin district northwest of Aleppo, military sources reported.

“In response to the Turkish aggression against our people in Afrin, the YPG targeted headquarters of Turkey’s military with heavy artillery,” a YPG spokesman told ARA News.

At least one Turkish soldier was killed and several others wounded in the bombardment.

“The clashes continued between the YPG and Turkish troops over the past few days after the latter entered Afrin countryside in a bid to hit YPG-held villages,” the Kurdish official said.

This comes just one day after three Kurdish fighters lost their lives when the Turkish army hit a YPG security office in the Jinderis area of Afrin district, northwest of Aleppo.

“As our fighters continue their struggle to liberate Raqqa from ISIS terrorists, Turkey’s military intensified its attacks against our headquarters in Rojava,” the YPG General Command said in a statement. “On Wednesday, the Turkish shelling caused the death of three YPG fighters and the injury of several others in Jinderis area of Afrin.”

What will Turkey not do to distract the effort to end ISIS in Raqqa.

Erdogan the Islamist is protecting ISIS and the Jihadi's?

Surely it is clear by now. And he is looking for any excuse to Kill Kurds. His arrogance leaves a long slithering trail.

I think that the new thing here is that the Kurds are attacking the Turks in Afrin, rather than just the other way around.

That is not a brand new tank in the photo, but it does look like it is being newly delivered. I wonder how many of those are newly arriving in Kurdish hands?

Turks started it to distract from ending ISIS in Raqqa.

They use any pretext, or no pretext to kill Kurds. Has been going on a long time.

Kurds did not start this one, but they did retaliate. This is outside the area where US presence was protecting this from happening.

As for me? I support the Kurds. Yes, I know Turkey is NATO, but they are also now a Dictatorship. Erdogan the Islamist must be forced to back away from this.

I’ve not heard reports. Probably our soldiers would prefer it that way.

I have not asked about numbers either. Might be able to find out.

I find it hard to believe that they would be that dumb. Turkey has been all to willing with reprisals. Probably just a pretext.

Kurds are the only reliable allies we have in the ME outside Israel.

I support the Kurds, too. But not if they attack Turkish troops in Turkey, or Syrian government troops or those who are supporting the government troops in Syria. Can't imagine how else that web gets untangled.

When it's done, Kurdistan should get to carve out of northern Iraq an independent Kurdistan, but not one that takes away Syrian, Turkish, Jordanian, or Iranian territory. Any other way ISIS can't be disintegrated.

I'm not defending Turkey. I'm realistic that Edrogen is real unamused that there was a huge coup attempt against him, and the CIA might have been supporting it.

Brennan, Erdogan’s fellow Islamist, was CIA director.

Brennan did not help with a coup. In my opinion, with no proof, Brennan probably gave Erdogan the list of 1600 people he started his purge with. I believe it was a Fau Coup, to take out the opposition to the Islamists. I’m quite surprised that the Kemalist have gone along.

No, Erdogan the Islamist has ended any possible friendship between the US and Turkey.

He believes that he is chosen to lead the Neo Ottoman empire. Anyone disagreeing with him will be killed.

Where does that go?
