Iowa’s Transfer of Power

Iowa Public TV will provide coverage of Gov. Terry E. Branstad's resignation and swearing-in as Ambassador to China on Wednesday, May 24, taking place in the Governor's formal office at the Iowa State Capitol. IPTV will then broadcast the first address of Iowa's new Governor, Kim Reynolds, LIVE from the rotunda of the Statehouse. The broadcast will also include an extended, one-on-one interview with Governor Reynolds by David Yepsen, host of IPTV’s Iowa Press.

Iowa’s Transfer of Power is scheduled to take place Wednesday, May 24 at 10 a.m. and will be broadcast live on IPTV WORLD (.3). The ceremony will also be live streamed at Iptv.org. Yepsen will anchor the broadcast with news analysis provided by Radio Iowa News Director Kay Henderson and The Des Moines Register's Political Columnist Kathie Obradovich.

Governor Reynolds will announce her pick to be Lt. Governor Thursday morning. Democrats are claiming that she will only be "acting Governor" and cannot appoint a new Lt. Governor.
