Giordano Bruno was tried by the Inquisition for his “heliocentric heresy”, but he did not “recant”, as Galileo did.

As unjust as it appears to modern eyes, Bruno was executed for a whole litany of heresies, whereas Galileo was tried not for his Copernican beliefs but for teaching theory as fact. He was also well-connected and would not have had to go through what he did if he hadn't not only refuse to present his theory as theory but repeatedly and very publicly antagonize the authorities. His personality was like one of those jackasses at the end of the bar who insults everybody for no good reason and it came back to bite him.

Just for information, the Pope gave him three or four of his writings, one just happened to be partially about climate change, so guess what the headlines have been!

Gosh, one would think the Pope would be more concerned with his religion than trash like climate change. Someone should encourage him to read the Bible - God makes it clear how it will all end and us ruining the planet is not the reason....why do so many religious “leaders” not believe God’s Word?
