Blame For Obamacare's Next Rate Hike Shifts To Trump And GOP
Forbes ^ | 22 May 2017 | Bruce Japsen

The healthcare industry is beginning to shift blame for Obamacare’s 2018 rate hikes and an unstable individual insurance market to Donald Trump and the Republican-led Congress.

An alliance of health insurers, doctors and employers are urging the Trump administration and Congress to fund cost-sharing subsidies for millions of Americans under the Affordable Care Act. Politico reported Friday that Trump is telling “advisers he wants to end key Obamacare subsidies.”

If cost-sharing reductions (CSRs) aren’t funded through 2018, Trump and Republicans will be responsible for more insurers leaving public exchanges and a rate hike of nearly 20% on average, reports indicate. The cost-sharing reductions (CSRs) are used to help 7 million Americans pay less out of pocket for healthcare services.

It was imploding anyway. Republicans should have left it alone and let it implode.

Oh B.S. It’s running just like Obama wanted it to.

The Left criticized the idea we should do away with it, and when it fails, they blame us for not fixing it.

The Left NEVER takes responsibility for anything! ANYTHING!

This is their threat to extort from taxpaying Americans.

Let’s turn it back on them

If the Congress does continue to subsidise Insurance profits then they are co-conspirators... in an illegal criminal enterprise...

It is STILL Obamacare. I doubt the People are blaming the Republicans for the mess, no matter how hard Big Media tries to shift the blame.

The ‘Healthcare Industry’ wants the slush fund payoffs that Obama gave them them to continue.

Oh, yes it is. Not one sentence of legislation has been passed by Congress and signed by the President.

Obamacare is still the law of the land.

What is the deal with the hand-wringing Eeyore crowd around here?

There's always something negative to be spun, and people showing their Trump Derangement Syndrome at every opportunity, regardless of the actual facts.

Are you really that much of a defeatist?

Why in the world would you want to reinforce such a patently false Media narrative? It's patently hysterical...

it was designed this way. Republicans were going to get blamed no matter what. Even if Hillary was President they would still get the blame. GOP will be blamed for its failure too so they might as well get busy getting their plan up and running....

The stinking former republican party has screwed the pooch on ObammyCare. They should have just repealed it and dumped the damned thing. But, no, they HAD to do their thing which was nothing in the end. Results, total mess. They will get the blame in the next election in 2018 and they will probably lose the Congress in the mid-terms next year. Lose the House and Senate because our side will just say screw it, why vote, they don’t do a damned thing when you give them all three places. So, they won’t show up, the left will and the left will win. I have had it. I have been voting since 1968. I am sick of these do nothings. I voted on the East-West German border when I mailed in my first election vote of my life. Ronald Reagan is the only TWO votes that I ever did that I felt good about. The rest, I held my nose and marked the blocks. They ALL SUCK!!! Every stinking one of them. To hell with the entire mob.

HA! Obama was and is the savior to the people who depend on government subsidies. The GOP is Satan. End of story. The Republicans would be well advised to do what they promised and end this madness lock, stock, and barrel.

The more Republicans tinker with it, the more they will be blamed for it.

Should have let it implode on its own, as it was doing.

Good job morons in the GOP. We now own Obamacare (albeit new name in Trumpcare). We have to fix it i.e. pay for it and keep it afloat or “everybody is going to die!” So stupid and predictable.

Thank you for referencing that article Lorianne. Please note that the following critique is directed at the article and not at you.

Speaking of Obama’s post-Oval Office influence, I don’t like the timing of the federal fiscal year, a new fiscal year starting a little over a month before election day in election years.

2017 United States federal budget

More specifically, a new president like Trump evidently has to put up with, for most of a year, a budget signed into law by an outgoing president.

In other words, it can be argued that a new, sworn-in president actually doesn’t take control of the federal government until she works with Congress and signs a new budget into law about a year later.

The bottom line is that patriots need to work with Trump to change tax day and the start of a new federal fiscal year to reduce the chances for reelection of corrupt, state sovereignty-ignoring career lawmakers as much as possible.

Corrections, insights welcome.

NO. The reason Obamacare became so enmeshed is that the 'pubs, rather than defund it at the onset, choose to let it fester so they could use it as a campaign issue. That was always wrong-headed, and an excuse for the donations they were getting from insurance, medical, and pharmaceutical companies. So those idiot Republicans who kept making promises they had no intention of fulfilling own it, whether they left it alone or not.

They now have a Pres who will sign anything they pass to fix health care. And they still can't get it done. It tells me one thing. A majority of the 'pubs we send to DC are feckless traitors, worse than the Dems. Why worse? They campaign as if they support our priorities. Establishment 'pubs own, and deserve to own, Obamacare. Let them pass something or SHUT UP and accept responsibility for their misdeeds!
