Nine of the 28 member state in the EU are currently not part of the single currency.
The UK and Denmark are exempt, but the remaining seven nations all agreed to adopt the euro when they joined the bloc.
And now the European Commission has now demanded they them all start using the crisis-hit currency within eight years, according to insiders.
The move, revealed by German publication Frankfurter Allegemeine Zeitung, who obtained a leaked copy of a Comission report, is likely to be fiercely opposed by Hungary, Poland and the Czech Republic's eurosceptic governments.
Just last week, Polish finance minister Mateusz Morawiecki said it was not in Polands interest to join the eurozone. Warsaw is worried about losing its financial autonomy.
The eurozone push could also cause controversy in Sweden, which held a non-binding referendum on whether to adopt the euro in 2003.
More than 55 per cent of voters said the in the Scandinavian country want leaders to reject any move to join the eurozone.

Some day we will be at war with this tumor.
The warning bell about the EU has always been its willingness to use compulsion as a first or second resort, rather than a last resort.
If these nations ultimately refuse the Euro, are the Eurocrats willing to use force if non-violent efforts fail?
Euro = Reichsmark.
“EU SUPERSTATE: Brussels ‘to force EVERY member state to adopt euro by 2025’”
Or what, you don’t get to belong to the “he man soverntry haters club....”
Force the Euro? EU and what army?
>Euro = Reichsmark.
EU = 4th Reich.
I’m sure it will end just as baddy as the 3ed Reich did.
Doubt it. The EU and the Euro is crumbling. The UK leaving will be crushing. The fact that they are trying to force the Euro on other members shows how desperate they are.
Correct...war with Germany is coming.
Yep!
And this is one reason why I consider it to be blithering idiocy for folks to suggest Europe should develop it’s own military and defend itself.
We learned nothing from history?
Europe is going places we don’t want to follow, and sooner or later we’ll be fighting over there again, unless cooler heads prevail, and we continue to take steps to avoid it.
This is what happens when you have government of the people by the government:
From Wiki:
In 1969 the UK government created the Metrication Board as a quango to promote and coordinate metrication. In 1978, after some carpet retailers reverted to pricing by the square yard rather than the square metre, government policy shifted, and they started issuing orders making metrication mandatory in certain sectors.

In preparation for joining the EU it seems. I say bring back pounds, shillings, farthings, halfpennies, pennies, threpences, sixpences, florins, and 1/2 crowns.
...and artists should only be paid in guineas!
LOL!!! 21 shillings;)
I do not believe, with the current self-degradation happening, that “Europe” will matter by then, since it will be one large mohammedan encampment.
Thanks for the link to British Money...We are going to the UK this Summer and I want my dear wife to realize that the new system surely beats the pre 1971 one.
The all of europe should rise up,
Get their pitchforks and hammers and storm Brussels.
Hang em ALL.
Force? Brussels and what army?
