Yes, if he gave credit in the footnotes, maybe he is just not that great of a writer, or was just not following the rules about using quotes/quotation marks. I am not convinced that it was his intent to steal material.
I am also curious as to whether, of the 47 incidents discovered, how many of them are made up of just 2 or 3 words, strung together in the same sequence that someone else (or thousands of someones else) had done in the past.
I think I am going to give him the benefit of the doubt here.
