Trump Told Russians That Firing ‘Nut Job’ Comey Eased Pressure From Investigation (NYT)

President Trump told Russian officials in the Oval Office this month that firing the F.B.I. director, James B. Comey, had relieved “great pressure” on him, according to a document summarizing the meeting.

“I just fired the head of the F.B.I. He was crazy, a real nut job,” Mr. Trump said, according to the document, which was read to The New York Times by an American official. “I faced great pressure because of Russia. That’s taken off.”

Mr. Trump added, “I’m not under investigation.”

The conversation, during a May 10 meeting — the day after he fired Mr. Comey — reinforces the notion that Mr. Trump dismissed him primarily because of the bureau’s investigation into possible collusion between his campaign and Russian operatives. Mr. Trump said as much in one televised interview, but the White House has offered changing justifications for the firing.

The White House document that contained Mr. Trump’s comments was based on notes taken from inside the Oval Office and has been circulated as the official account of the meeting. One official read quotations to The Times, and a second official confirmed the broad outlines of the discussion.

Oh, another “sources read the memo over the phone” story. Shouldn’t take long for this well to dry up.

Unnamed and unverified source. This is journalism the opposite of reporting.

Maggie Haberman is the reporter to whom Kate Walsh was said to be leaking. Walsh was fired.

I doubt it was Dina Powell this time (though it might have been). Sounds like Dina Powell set up another staffer with this fake story...and Maggie Haberman fell for it.

There was a lot of pressure because the nutcase who headed the FBI was playing politics and inserting himself in political discussions where he didn’t belong. The FBI should investigate then let the DOJ prosecute or bloviate (or move on). He decided he wanted to do the DOJ’s job.

He did it with Hillary where there was evidence and then with Russia where there wasn’t. And that does make pressure on Trump when Ds want Comey fired for what he did to Hillary but also want the head of the FBI to keep talking about the evidence he HASN’T found on Trump (to keep it in the news).

Yeah, and then calling it a “White House document”. And the NYT seems to treat like legitimate news.

Anyone who reacts to this with any semblance of “it might be true”...

IS A COMPLETE RETART.

Not a semi retart or a half retart or event a 1/4 or an 1/8th of a retart.

...but a full blown fully grown oversized overstuffed Magnus Cumlatte RETART.

Based on:

1. a document of Trump's comments
2. Based on notes from the oval office
3. 1 official read the quotes
4. another official confirmed broad outline of discussion.

Solid reporting, based on solid facts that amount to what ? quintuple hearsay ?

I think the market has some more downside to come. I am actually surprised there isn’t a rush by institutions to get out over this weekend.

The NY Times has a hard time understanding words and context. So instead, they twist things and come to ridiculous conclusions. Did they ever study reading comprehension in school?
