With Fox News’s Ratings in Free Fall, the Future Looks Bleak
American Thinker ^ | May 19,2017 | By Peter Barry Chowka

The sudden death of Roger Ailes (R.I.P.) yesterday is a grim omen for the network he envisioned and built. In the wake of the recent upheavals at Fox News, the conservative cable television network’s ratings are experiencing a precipitous decline from cable news leadership for the first time in the history of the channel. As the rest of the mainstream media continue their efforts to undermine and “resist” the Trump Administration, this development bodes ill for the future

-- not only of the unique kind of fair and balanced if right of center reporting pioneered by the Fox News Channel (FNC), but of the prospects for conservatives continuing to have a major media platform, maintain power, and advance their agenda in the months and years ahead.

Meanwhile, there are reports that the U.S. Department of Justice has “widened its probe into Fox News over money it paid to women who said they were sexually harassed at the network.” New lawsuits alleging harassment are pending and a number of African American employees have come forward with allegations of racial discrimination at Fox News. Anchor Kelly Wright, who is African-American, announced a lawsuit against Fox News for alleged discrimination on April 27, 2017.

At some point in the not-too-distant future, FreeRepublic may be the ONLY place in the media where conservative views can be aired. Let’s hope it stays up and running.

Welcome back, FR!

Conservatives, feeling betrayed, will find other outlets.

Intolerant liberals will never turn on FOX.

Not a sunny future.

Fox used to,be on almost continuously at our home
Haven't watched them since election night
Don't watch any TV new except occasional local to get the weekend weather
Am I an anomaly? Who is buying the stuff all,the sponsors are paying to advertise?

The two brothers don’t seem to care. I hope OANN streams and has a login...I’d pay $10/mo just for it over the internet.

The minute Trump leaves office (Jan 20, 2025), cable news will officially end, because they’ll have absolutely nothing to talk about. In the meantime, I get everything I need from OANN and 7-7 channels on YouTube.

I got home from work yesterday afternoon, nuked black coffee remaining in pot, and plopped down to watch whatever took the place of The Five on Fox. First thing I see is Steven A. (arsehole) Smith on the far left. WTF? When I used to watch ESPN every once in awhile during NFL season, I always had to switch channels when this slithering critter opened his mouth. Maybe they can get Keith Homo-Olbermann and Bob Costas to join him. Goodbye, Fox.

There may be other ways to get it, but Apple tv, Roku, and Amazon fire tv are the easiest method to obtain. It’s only $5/month.

I noticed that too. Lots of deeply felt tributes to Roger Ailes yesterday, including Rupert Murdoch. Where were his sons? Was the envy and loathing really that deep, that they couldn’t fake being gracious for a quick Tweet?

Rupert Murdoch has been speaking to Fox News employees, recently, giving presentations as to what the new plans and industry goals will be.
I’m sure most the Fox employees who silently sit through his presentation are thinking; ‘It doesn’t matter what you tell us to expect, when everybody knows you have given your power away to your sons. The same two sons who hate what we do here. Go home, Grandpa. Tend to your gardening.”

Ailes died from a fall - I want to know where the Murdoch boys were when the fall happened.

OANN has been added to the DIRECTV lineup. It’s on channel 347. It’s also on Roku. The Roku devices can be purchased for $50 to $100 depending on which model you buy. There is a monthly subscription fee on Roku. It’s nice to be able to watch on a TV screen vs computer.

FreeRepublic already is the only place in the media where conservative views are aired. That’s why I have been lost for two days. Thank goodness I still had FR on Facebook to fall back on. I can no longer rely on FOX for conservative views...

“Conservatives, feeling betrayed, will find other outlets...”

THAT is the main problem at Fox News. Top management at Fox has broken faith with the audience that made them big and are paying the price.

"I think cable news is done ...there is the internet Only old people watch TV news."

The trend of cutting the cable TV cord will doom Fox and other news outlets. Fox is leading the downhill plunge through self inflicted wounds.

Maybe the ratings slump will be a wake up call to FNC executives. I think the Murdoch boyz are controlled by their wives and their trust fund baby peer group. Now I only watch Dobbs and Varney. I wonder how long they’ll last.....

I was still watching a few FoxNews programs. ‘Zeke’ Emmanuel and Marie Harf were the final straw. The Murdoch sons (and their wives) are blowing up the channel. I still watch Bret Baier, but that is becoming endangered now, too. Too bad. When I found FoxNews in 1996, I told all my friends that there was finally a channel that wasn’t ‘All Left, All The Time’. No more.
