US-backed Iraqi forces have pushed deeper into the last pocket of Mosul controlled by the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL, also known as ISIS), as the battle for the city approaches an end after seven months of gruelling combat.
ISIL fighters have now been dislodged from all but a handful of districts in the western half of Mosul including the Old City, where the group is expected to make its last stand, taking advantage of narrow streets and its dense population.

I agree. Eisenhower landed in France (no small undertaking), built up his forces without the benefit of a major port, and took Paris, in a little over TWO MONTHS.
Isis has few tanks, little artillery, and no aircraft. The Iraqi army has all three (good US equipment that we gave them).
With ISIS being crushed in Syria and Iraq the retreat path is the USA. That is why the temporary visa block.

And it doesn’t matter because the fight is with Islam. ISIS just one part of it. Unless we ban Islam in the US, nothing else matters. We are wasting our people and our money on a fool’s errand over there.
Can’t wait for ISIS to be defeated, but knowing the Iraqis, I doubt anything will get better in the country afterwards. Nowadays it’s practically run by the Iranians.
