Cityhostel found itself at the centre of a storm after German media reported Tuesday that the North Korean embassy was not just the guesthouse’s neighbour but also the owner of the prime real estate.
Rented out since 2004, the property brings in about 38,000 euros ($41,000) a month in rent for Pyongyang, the public broadcaster ARD reported.

41,000$ per month from back packers?! A youth hostel. And that is the profit after the overhead is deducted.! Is that place a front for drugs and prostitution?! Or is it a shell building laundry mat for crime in other parts of Germany? $41,000 per month.

Seems to just be rent. So they win whether or not the hostel profits. The Norks are renting the building to a German company that operates the hostel.
