Michelle Obama on Friday criticized a Trump administration decision to delay federal rules aimed at making school lunch healthier, saying kids will end up "eating crap" instead.

Through my school career I never had a school provided lunch. My family made my lunch and I ate it knowing the love behind its creation. My kids never had a school provided lunch. They knew that their dad did so with love and with the knowledge that he would never kowtow to the nanny state. If you are concerned with your kid's nutrition make them lunch. If you want the nanny state to take over that responsibility then STFU.

What authority does the federal government have in education, much less deciding the nutritional value of school lunches? Also, was Michelle an elected official? Did she sponsor or co-sponsor any legislation demanding that the federal government set arbitrary rules on school nutrition?
