Hectoring people on the OS that is run on their system is like blaming the gun for someone’s death. It is who pulled the trigger that is to blame.
Attacking hospitals is beyond the pale and ought to bring with it the death penalty.
I am not kidding.
It’s now believed to be the biggest cyber attack of its kind ever recorded.
Mikko Hypponen, chief research officer at the Helsinki-based cybersecurity company F-Secure, called the attack the biggest ransomware outbreak in history.
the attack appeared to be caused by a self-replicating piece of software that enters companies and organizations when employees click on email attachments, then spreads quickly internally from computer to computer when employees share documents and other files.
I completely agree. Hackers, in my humble opinion, are right down there on the POS scale with drug dealers, pimps, people who scam little old ladies out of their life savings.
While I wish that everyone were more savvy to knowing how to protect themselves, the fact is is that many are not. It is wrong to take advantage of people, vandalize their property, steal their data, mess with their computers.
When people buy a computer, most feel that running MS Windows and having an antivirus protects them. Most people are not IT experts. They should not have to be.
Hackers are scum. It is sick and evil to sit behind a computer and mess with people’s livelihoods. There is a deeper and darker issue here. What they do is evil. I have no tolerance for evil. Evil should be destroyed. Yet, society allows it to perpetuate by blaming the victims, turning a blind eye, and remaining quiet.
