In remarks Wednesday, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan asserted that he would personally demand President Donald Trump rescind his support for the Syrian Kurdish Peoples Protection Units (YPG), as Turkeys patience has ended with the anti-Islamic State collaboration between the two. The Pentagon announced this week it would expand military support for the YPG, considered one of the most successful militias fighting ISIS today. Turkey considers the YPG an extension of the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK), a Marxist terrorist group seeking to establish an independent Kurdistan. In a report published Thursday, the Turkish state-run Anadolu News Agency describes the PKK as an umbrella organization that franchises itself to regional affiliates, making international support of their subgroups more palatable.
We would like to believe that our allies will prefer to side with us and not with terrorist organizations, Erdogan said in remarks during a press conference with Sierra Leone President Ernest Bai Koroma. The president added that he hoped the Pentagon would reverse its decision to arm the YPG before I go to America.
Erdogan is scheduled to meet with President Donald Trump in Washington on May 16, a meeting he said he hoped will ensure the stability of the region and will lead us to reach a conclusion compatible with the realities of Syria. It will be the first in-person meeting between the two leaders, though they have spoken on the phone, most recently following a Turkish referendum in which voters chose to shift from a parliamentary to a presidential system.

Well heck. In that case we better back off.
Get Turkey out of Europe, and out of NATO, then get the USA out of NATO.
then tell Turkey to get stuffed.
Wouldn’t that be ironic. If we go to war with Turkey.
Tell this wanna be Caliph to piss up a rope.
Did you notice the last name of the author of this article?
On 2002, the school who educated the children of the US military servicemen for about fifty years closed down because the base was transported in a solitary tour.
I do remember the chapel there, and met our Lord there thanks to some very dedicated parents and a chaplain.
Wull, OK, Recep, ol’ boy, if that is how you want to play this...
GREAT idea to carve out a new nation from parts of Syria, Iran, Iraq and especially Turkey, and turn it over to the Kurds. Trying to scare us with the boogieman that the Kurds “might” be Marxist just won’t fly in today’s world, with a much more real, immediate, and pernicious existential threat, in the form of a resurgent Caliphate.
Turkey seems bent on pissing off its big allies: U.S., Germany/E.U., Russia. Getting those players on the same page is pretty hard to do, especially when you throw in Assad and the Kurds.
More WINNING!!
Thanksgiving is coming up. We can use some more roast Turkeys.
Tell Erdogan that we no longer support his version of a war on terror. He needs to stop helping ISIS and for that matter the FSA. Syria is the government of the land, until it is changed by Syria.
BTW, Erdogan, maybe you better just stay home, don’t visit Pres. Trump.
Erdogan may arrange some operation to harm Trump during his visit. He is full on Moslem.
Well, bye.
