The fact that Sessions may have been consulted by the President about the advisability of firing Comey does not violate Sessions’s recusal. He did not “investigate” by his advice to the President. Sessions may have been in favor of firing Comey due to a variety of reasons, including Comey’s incompetence displayed in the Hillary Clinton investigation. But nothing has come to light indicating that Session is involved in investigating anything pertaining to the campaign.
