Full Title: Russian hacker claims FBI offered him citizenship and a new life if he would confess to hacking Podesta emails on behalf of Putin and Trump

According to a report in Newsweek by Tom O’Connor, a Russian hacker who had been detained in Prague at the request of US authorities, was visited multiple times by FBI agents, who pressed him to confess to hacking the Podesta emails at the behest of Putin, and to help Trump. They allegedly (and unsuccessfully) offered generous inducements, to say the least.

Yevgeniy Nikulin, 29, has found himself in the middle of an international dispute between Washington and Moscow, at the very center of which lies U.S. allegations that Russia sponsored a series of hacks targeting Democratic Party candidate and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in favor of Republican candidate and current President Donald Trump. On October 5, 2016, days before U.S. intelligence publicly accused Russia of endorsing an infiltration of Democratic Party officials' emails, Nikulin was arrested in Prague at the request of the U.S. on separate hacking charges. Now, Nikulin claims U.S. authorities tried to pin the email scandal on him.

Nikulin was detained in the Czech Republic for allegedly hacking the servers of major sites LinkedIn, Dropbox and Formspring between 2012 and 2013. While awaiting trial, he claims in an undated letter reportedly given to U.S. Russian-language news site Nastoyashchoe Vremya by Nikulin's lawyer, Martin Sadilek, that the FBI visited him at least a couple of times, offering to drop the charges and grant him U.S. citizenship as well as cash and an apartment in the U.S. if the Russian national confessed to participating in the 2016 hacks of Clinton campaign chief John Podesta's emails in July. Hackers would be too embarrassed to admit to “hacking” Podesta by guessing his password “password”.

Um, didn’t Podesta just click on a phishing email? They call that hacked?? It is called stupid.

There are a whole lot of lying, stinkin’, bad actors who belong in Gitmo, imho.

Comey’s FBI sounds like it was working for the DNC.

The fact he ignored pressing for WH leaks even at the request of the President, means of course, he did the leaking.

Cannot trust Comey.

How does he pick the crimes? Russia nonsense, but not unmasking US citizens by our own government.

I would think that would render any ‘testimony’ he gave that followed their ‘request’ would be ‘void’ -

But maybe his testimony as to being bribed/blackmailed - would turn sour for the Clintonistas and company?

I certainly hope we’re not about to get spun up about what some Russian hacker may or may not have said.

Podesta fell for a phish. He got hacked because the DNC IT guy is a retard.

When I was a youngster kids were true believers.

There were some things that we kids held to be universal truths.

1 - The USA was a force for good.

2 - There was nothing Americans couldn’t do.

3 - There was no criminal safe from the FBI.

The FBI was seen as the law enforcement Gold Standard with unquestionable honesty, integrity and competence.

Now I would be more inclined to believe a random Russian hacker than the bureaucrats at the FBI.

I feel the same way. That is sad. I started having doubts about the FBI when they messed up re the Boston bombers, let the widow walk, and did nothing about Lois Lerner.

We live in perilous times. Given enough time, a corrupt gov’t can purchase or fabricate ‘proof’ of anything, against anyone they target. Once they find their stooge, watch the Dems & the media - as if there’s any difference - jump on it and try to beat Trump into the ground.

Hacking, phishing it’s all the same to the media dimwits. I think of hacking as stalking/hunting specific individual targets. Phishing is more akin to setting a trap line and waiting for some poor sucked to stumble into it. Podesta was the latter.

If the FBI had me in custody I might concoct a similar story to get leverage. I’m taking this with a grain of salt. We’ll know eventually. Comey is gone so there’s nobody orchestrating the continuing cover up at the Bureau... probably.
