Democrat Loses Omaha Race That Was Caught in Abortion Debate

Democrat Heath Mello lost his race for Omaha mayor Tuesday in a setback for supporters who argued that the Democratic National Committee and abortion rights groups were wrong to attack the anti-abortion former state senator.

Mello, a 37-year-old Catholic from Omaha's working-class south side, had become a flashpoint for the internal Democratic battle over whether a candidate's position on reproductive rights should disqualify him from support by the national party after its crushing losses around the country last year.

Republican Jean Stothert, a 63-year-old former nurse and city council member elected in 2013, was elected to a second term.

It was another near miss for Democrats fighting to take back typically Republican territory. Last month, James Thompson lost a special election for a House seat in Kansas. In Georgia, Jon Ossoff narrowly missed an outright win in a special election.

The National Abortion and Reproductive Rights Action League slammed the Democratic National Committee for supporting Mello, who voted for abortion restrictions during his eight years in the Nebraska Legislature.

Mello didn’t do himself any favors by having Bernie Sanders come here to campaign for him, and then Sanders was more interested in advancing the DNC party line than in helping Mello. Quelle Surprise (NOT)!

But when a Republican is pro-abortion....oh noes...those mean-old anti-choice Christian bible-thumping right-wingers won’t tolerate differing views from an enlightened moderate centrist. Glad to see the national Rat party stick their grimy noses into a freaking Mayoral race with their poisonous leftist politics and torpedo one of their own.

If he had won it would have been on the front page of the New York Times... they would extol the comeback of the Democrat Party. As is, one more democrat loss - the story will be buried. Oh, and a 'near miss' is a loss.Close only counts in horseshoes. Thomas Beaumont should know that...

Oh no....not another humiliating loss for Dumbos?

Dimmies sure picked a winner in loud-mouthed Perez.
Guy cant win an election to save his soul.

Perez declared abortion-on-demand is Democrats' ticket to victory.

So if that doesn't work....I guess Perez is looking at infanticide for wins.

============================================

In Kansas, Repub Estes won by eight points; Dumbo Ossoff in GA failed to prevent a runoff...even after every prog/Dumbo and his second cousin from East Overshoe, USA, sent Ossoff some 10 million dollars.

Earlier Democrats lost again b/c they failed to flip Zero Seats in Four Blue State Special Elections.

These latest total Democrat humiliations by the Russians occurred right after DNC genius Tom Perez bragged Democrats would show that that "resistance to Trump" could be translated into electoral victories.

To add insult to injury, the Minnesota, Connecticut, Virginia Democrat losses are the states the Russians threw to Hillary in the 2016 presidential election.

Go figure.

anti-abortion former state senator.

Fair is fair....if your are going to rename the pro-life movement, we get to rename you pro-murder of infants crowd. Democrats never think anything through.

To put this in perspective, the incumbent mayor won with 53% of the vote. She first was elected mayor in 2013, with 57% of the vote. Not exactly landslide numbers, but she is a Republican running for the office of mayor.
