In what sense is this still a “Catholic” school?

The Vatican should simply disown it and be done with it.

That is — if the Vatican still wants to exercise ecclesiastical and moral authority.

Fordham is a Jesuit school. I am not sure if that is the same thing as a Catholic school.

Fordham, I believe, does not even hold itself out to be a “Catholic” school. It describes itself as “the Jesuit University of New York”.

Even before we had a Fake Pope — I no longer can accept Pope Francis as the Pope; I'm no conspiracy theorist, but I think it means something that Benedict chose to keep the title “Pope” — Catholic colleges fell under the jurisdiction of the local bishop, not the Vatican. In any case, most Catholic colleges went off the rails forty years ago. If we had a Vatican that cared about these things, such a Pope would be wise to decree that only colleges that met certain strict criteria would be considered “Catholic”. Any others could call themselves anything they like, but would get no official stamp of approval. It's juts not worth the time for bishops or the Vatican to police these schools, where the shenanigans never stop. I mean, once the (male) head of the Theology Department at Fordham “married” a man, was there really anything left to say about whether the school is Catholic?
