Two people were killed and eight were left wounded in a Sunday shooting that police believe to be the result of a gang-retaliation hit that targeted the memorial for another man that had been killed earlier in the day.
According to USA Today, the victims were at an outdoor memorial service on Sunday evening at around 5:15 p.m. for 26-year-old Daniel Cardova, who was fatally gunned down in the city’s Brighton Park neighborhood a mere 13 hours earlier.
It was then that more gunfire broke out.
“During this memorial, two subjects came out of an alley east of the location…and opened fire with rifles,” First Deputy Superintendent Kevin Navarro told USa Today. Navarro called the shooting at the memorial “another brazen-act of gang violence on Chicago’s streets.”
The gunmen were reportedly wearking masks and opened fire on the group that was standing near an improvised memorial that had been erected in honor of Cardova

I see a cottage industry here - provide security for the gangs to safely attend memorials.

None of the reports on this including the ones on WLS and WGN radio were location specific beyond the neighborhood area (Brighton Park) as to the where these shootings occurred. Brighton Park is a big place Anybody know where this happened ?

That is to say, and you’ll notice the article didn’t, that they could have been any kind of rifle from a shotgun converted to shoot a slug to an AK-47 or an uzi, which are all readily available on the streets.

Why would they use “high powered” rifles for a gang hit when they were masked and came out of alley to make the hit probably at close range to fire a lot of shots to get a lot of people quickly? They had to know that part of the crowd were gang and most likely packing so they would have to hit quick and vanish which they did.

Chicago? Yes, great idea. Another 100 pounds of laws and people could defend themselves by hitting criminals over the head with them...
Here’s an interactive map of Chicago shootings. The latest murders haven’t been added to it yet, but it counteracts the most recent critics that are trying to tamp down the criticisms of Chiraq, as being unfair and fueled by an outside agenda. I think OAN or Fox, just did a story on Chicago’s murder rate, and there have already been more deadly shootings in Chi-town this year, than LA and NY combined.
