MK Mickey Rosenthal: 'The police decided to recommend indicting Netanyahu'

Knesset Member Mickey Rosenthal (the Zionist Union) said during a Shabbat cultural event in Modi'in: "The police decided to recommend indicting Netanyahu on two counts—for accepting a forbidden gift and breach of trust."

Rosenthal said this after attorney Liat Ben-Ari, the attorney accompanying Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's interrogation, spoke about the question of gifts and said that "when it comes to hundreds of thousands of shekels given to a public servant, I find it hard to accept that this is only a gift from a friend to a friend." The prime minister's office said in response: "There is no basis to claim that anything was wrong with the relations between the prime minister and his colleagues."

Politics is a hard business in Israel. It might be just talk from a member of the center-left Zionist Union. There's been talk of indicting Netanyahu and/or his wife for months now and nothing has come of it yet.

Israel’s politics and demographic makeup confounds me.

He was given cigars and champaign by a Hollywood friend, Milchan. So its time to remove him and allow the ghost of Peres to assume leadership and voice solidarity with Abass and Hamas, like a good suicidal Israeli.

Relax. Netanyahu’s been outrunning indictment since 1999 .... he’ll outrun this one, too. :-)
