In case that wasnt perfectly clear, CQ Roll Calls April Capitol Insiders Survey found that large majorities of Republican staffers on Capitol Hill believe the Freedom Caucus is a negative force in the Republican Party.
The results are not surprising, but are illustrative of the hostility to true conservatism in the swamp.
Survey: Republicans see harm from Freedom Caucus https://t.co/qxs7R7xtGu pic.twitter.com/J1KTKQYow6 Roll Call (@rollcall) May 4, 2017 Of the 100 self-identified Republicans who responded to the email poll, 71 percent had a negative view of the Freedom Caucus; 22 percent of the GOP respondents had a positive view, while 7 percent said they dont know.
Some suggest that the HFCs growing strength may be the cause for disdain. Theyve figured out how to use their power to move Speaker [Paul D.] Ryan and Majority Leader [Kevin] McCarthy, Jeffrey Taylor, an ex-staffer to former GOP Rep. David McIntosh, R-Ind., told Roll Call.
Indeed, moderate Republicans specifically, members of the Tuesday Group are currently furious with the Freedom Caucus for moving the GOP health care bill to the right.

dang it...

Too many staffers as far as I am concerned
Good for the HFC
We are long past the time to abolish the entire corrupt entity and start over.
Hey wasn’t there something in the founding documents about that?
The Freedom Caucus is playing the role of Paul Revere, and we are well-advised to heed their cautions.
Freedom, once lost, may never return.
A lot of people here hate the Freedom Caucus.
A lot of people here hate the Freedom Caucus.
***
Nah.
A lot of people here were disgusted with the negotiating in bad faith.
And now that they negotiated in GOOD faith, the disgust has abated.
No. But the Declaration of Independence which identifies reasons for leaving British rule does.
Just so I understand, how were they negotiating in bad faith?
I am open to the idea that they were, just don’t remember reading about it.
Well, what happened is that the HFC came to a deal on the original Ryancare bill, but then they called up again and after the deal was struck, started demanding more and more concessions.
And if the gentleman who left the HFC over that kerfuffle is to be believed, they went in intending to kill the bill and not be truthful in negotiations at all.
These are the swampthings that keep messing up legistlation. What would we lose if elected ‘pubs fired them all and started over?
if their strategy was to get a full repeal, I can’t argue with that. But I guess that was never going to happen as and Republicans in general have no guts.
The Freedom Caucus said what they meant and meant what they said and it was in good faith.
I have seen far too many posts on FR condemning them for standing their ground and some even wanted them to be primaried for standing up to Trump and Bannon. Thank goodness they did.
Look buddy; you can say that it was right if you want, or wrong if you want.
But the truth of the matter is that they were deceitful in negotiating and that rubbed a lot of people the wrong way.
Well, their goal was to get a full repeal, yes.
Of course, the repeal bill they offered got maybe 10% of the House on board, and I find it hard to believe that they could get that 40% more, especially considering how difficult it was to pass even THIS.
Sad but true. So my opinion is that we have to shove back as much as we can, even if it means accepting unpleasant compromises as long as we progress bit by bit. We got here by liberal incrementalism; we have to push back in the same way.
Forget term limits!
It is time to legalize dueling.
Society would be polite and politicians would be honest.

Well, one this is for sure, Aaron Burr did us a great favor.
We need to find good candidates to run against selected Republican (and Dem) swamp dweller incumbents. Independent of the candidate, we need to build good organizations in the districts of swamp dweller incumbents.
Someone start a list. IL?
Roskam, Hultgren are not swamp dwellers.
Are Rs Shimkus, Davis, Kinzinger, LaHood swamp dwellers?
Bost?
GA?
1 Carter ?
3 Ferguson ?
6 Handel ? or Ossoff?
7 Woodall ?
8 Scott ?
9 Collins ?
10 Hice not a swamp dweller
11 Loudermilk not a swamp dweller
12 Allen ?
14 Graves ?
Actually, they worked WITH Trump and stood up to Ryan and the moderates in the House. Trump would be given credit for working out a deal Ryan didn't even try to make.
