Perhaps a future strategic objective allowing China to invade NK or transit it for other reasons. Are there Chinese military installations located in the vicinity of the terminus of this bridge?

No doubt China could drive tanks across it (note to U.S. Air Force for future reference if need be).

The state of Connecticut built the Connecticut Turnpike expecting Rhode Island would continue it through to Providence, and on towards Boston. Apparently, they never asked Rhode Island. For decades, it just ended at the state border, near Killingsley. It’s not as bad as North Korea, because at least Connecticut could connect it to Rte 6, a previously existing road between Hartford and Providence. But it was kind of ridiculous, because Rte 6 isn’t even a highway.

Eventually, Connecticut extended the highway straight North into Massachusetts heading towards Worcestor, and the “Northeast Extension” became Interstate 395.
