‘I can’t lose my house’: Outrage after Flint sends foreclosure warnings over tainted-water bills

Thousands of Flint, Mich., residents have been warned that they could lose their homes if they don’t pay outstanding water bills — even as the city has just begun replacing lead-tainted pipes after a contamination crisis linked to a dozen deaths.

Warning letters were mailed to 8,002 residents in April, according to the city, a few weeks after state officials ended a program that was paying the majority of their water bills.

But many Flint residents still don’t trust their taps — lining up for free bottled water or installing city-recommended filters after revelations in 2014 and 2015 that dangerous levels of lead had leached into the system while officials tried to cut costs.

Non-payment of your Husseincare tax could produce the same result.

Flint sells poisoned water to its citizens and expects them to pay for it when if they drank it it would kill them??

That's analogous to the China government practice of charging the surviving family for the bullet they used to execute a criminally convicted family member. What in the hell has happened to our country? Oh, wait, I know, it's called commie libturds and Obama.

When killing babies is a health priority, saving citizens water health comes second or further behind. Heck, if it causes birth defects and abortions, the better!

My husband does not have insurance, Obamacare prohibitively expensive, so we lost $650.00 to the government.

If you come into this country illegally they do.more for you. It is crazy how tax paying, law abiding, solid community citizens get the shaft.

Snyder has already groveled and apologized profusely when he should have filed suit against the EPA for not doing their freaking jobs.

Nothing to do with Obama. Cities have been doing this sort of crap as long as there have been cities.

I would deduct it from the bill for damages that they would get from me. I assure you that the difference would be insignificant.

...and if you don’t pay up for the water we poisoned and permanently stunted your children with, we will take your house!

Now THIS is worth rioting over. I hope that they have the sense to do it in the politicians’ neighborhoods and not their own.

The article mentions that lead has fallen to “safer” levels...so now the kids lose only single-digit IQ points. Ah, progress!

Or try the scam that PEPCO ran in Md after nearly a month long power outage (due to PEPCO’s negligence in maintaining power lines). They were allowed to tack on a charge to their customers for lost revenue because they couldn’t provide electricity.

Most of the water which is consumed by homes goes to showering, washing clothes and dishes, flushing toilets, etc, none of which is affected by the lead content.

Pay the bill, and then file a lawsuit against the water company for the cost of having to buy bottled water.
