Texas Governor Greg Abbott on Tuesday signed a law prohibiting state agencies from contracting with companies that boycott Israel, The Forward reports.

“You can always count on Texas,” Abbott said at the signing ceremony at the Austin Jewish Community Center, adding, “Any anti-Israel policy is an anti-Texas policy.”

The law, known as HB 89, charges the Texas Comptroller’s Office with making a list of “all companies that boycott Israel” and provide the list to state agencies.

Those agencies will then be barred from contracting with those companies. State pension funds are also prohibited from being invested in firms involved in the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) campaign against Israel. …

Anti-Bush Derangement Syndrome?

From TX, yeah.

Maybe they should update it to TDS.

Thank God for Texas. Unfortunately with the Mexican invasion it’s damn near purple.

One wouldn’t think TX would even have to do this, but we’ve been under special, concentrated attack from zero and the Left for 8 years in the effort to flip us blue.

I’d like to see a list of the vendors dropped.

IMO this is indeed a proper use of the State’s power to discriminate among businesses on non-monetary grounds.

Nobody has a problem with the federal government, acting as it occasionally does as a business, forbidding not just its own self but private US companies from doing business with rogue countries who hold our values in contempt (apparently Canada’s and Europe’s views on free speech have not yet crossed the threshold). I say the individual states also that same right and responsibility.

It depends on where the Mexican Americans live. Out in W TX where they still work for a living, many of them voted for Trump. If you’re in the cities, the illegals and/or welfare crowd vote Democrat. Pres. Trump better get busy on the problem of illegals voting before the 2018 elections.
