French presidential candidate Emmanuel Macron was more impressive than rival Marine Le Pen in Wednesday evening's final TV debate, a viewers' poll says.

The candidates traded insults for more than two hours, arguing over terrorism, the economy, and Europe.

The French broadcaster BFMTV found voters had a more favourable view of Mr Macron than Ms Le Pen in most categories.

He was the "most convincing" of the pair in the opinion of 63% of viewers.

Their right-of-center is our centrist or center-left.

>Le Pen doesn’t seem particularly conservative. She spent a lot of the debate castigating “big business” and taxing which ones that decide to relocate

She’s not. However she’s the only one interested saving France.

And Hillary lost again when NYU switched genders and re-enacted the debate. The guy playing Hillary was so whiny...even worse than Hillary!

Right now, France has much bigger fish to fry.

Hell, just a slight shift to the right by the french hasn't happened since the 70s. I'm having to rethink my whole reflex to spit every time I refer to the french people, La Pen is a breath of fresh air over the stench of the eu.

Macron supposedly had a 60-40 lead so the results of the debate should not be that surprising.

"...France has much bigger fish to fry..."

Agreed. Without the successful election of Marine Le Pen it is entirely possible France could completely crumble within a decade.

Big Business and Big Banks that demand lower taxes for themselves end up shifting the tax burden onto little people with sales taxes, carbon taxes and so on.

We conservatives campaign for no new taxes, no tax increases and end up getting them because the big business interests have to be accommodated with lower taxes on their profits and so on.

French election: Macron 'most convincing' in final debate

OK, so "most convincing" means that the French people should therefore vote for an Establishment Socialist, despite the fact that Establishment Socialist policies are destroying the entire country and turning it into a corral of defenseless sheep who are being overrun culturally by a growing flood of Islamist fanatics?

If majorities of the French people are going to be this blind—this stupid—then I can't help but feel pity for that patriotic minority which is sounding the alarm, but apparently not convincing enough of their countrymen of the need for Revolutionary change.

I know that the odds are against Le Pen's success—with the populace so deeply submerged in politically correct socialist propaganda—but I had fervently hoped for more progress than what I'm seeing.

Listening to Macron saying France has to “accept” the EU reminded me of Marshal Petain saying France had to “accept” Nazi Germany.

Macron is the new Vichy candidate.

Marine Le Pen stood up for France yesterday and she’s not going away because the legislative elections are coming up with the 1st round Juune 11th and the second on June 25th.

She invoked Charles De Gaulle and the notion that she would be give France an “independent voice in the world” like De Gaulle did. De Gaulle pulled France back from NATO in 1967.

I suspect the French polls are the same as ours: no longer a gauge of public opinion but a method of getting the people to think the way the media wants them to think.

This is the exact same load we were force-fed here after three presidential debates, a million headlines blaring saying these pundits said Trump was weak, or this CNN flash poll showed 64% of debate watchers thought Clinton won, etc.

Hillary Clinton wins third presidential debate, according to CNN / ORC poll

There are seriously ten million of these too, I'm not going to bother linking them.

Maybe Macron did win, hell if I know, but I ain't going to trust the media to give me an impartial analysis, or the OP of this thread, who used to post a bunch of "Poll: Brexit Doomed in Upcoming June 23 Vote" threads, to not be cherry-picking articles favorable to his precious Union again.

I posted top items about Brexit which showed wild swings in the polls. Often giving opposing views in links. Considering the result was 52 to 48 the election was close. Which is what I had posted at the time.

If you have a "cherry-picked" news item you like to share that shows different data then it's not me stopping you. Am I?

One only needs to see post #15 in this thread, that shows I give links that are not cherry picked to one side.

In this recent Brexit thread, I gave Theresa May's pro Brexit speech.

Got any other butt-hurt from last year I can help you get over?

If the BBC were run by reptilian aliens there would be no change from the current reporting and bias. :-)

“Considering the result was 52 to 48 the election was close.”

Not as close as you think. The polling was 52-48 the other way, so an 8 point swing. Also, 5% is usually considered, pretty much a landslide.
