It works because those who say the GS promise may stay silent on those words as others recite them, or may substitute the name of the higher power of their faith , ie Allah for a muslim
Yes there are Christian Jewish muslim Hindu Sikh pagan atheist whatever GS in 144 different countries
If that is objectionable to a Christian then they can join AHG
I hope you realize that there are people in AHG who do not consider Catholics to be Christian ... The good Ol’ praying to idols thing

Oddly enough, in my mother’s time in Irish-Catholic New York, it was frowned on to join the Girl Scouts because it was considered a “Protestant” organization. Same with joining the Y. That’s how traditional the Church was in the first half of the 20th Century. I was never allowed to be a girl scout!

GS does not raise money for any nonprofit except its own organization.
However when any group such as GSUSA attends a women’s issues conference or gathering of nonprofits, you are going to find many organizations in attendance including PP. This does not imply endorsement or support.
I believe you will find Ivanka Trump doing this very type of networking with national and international women’s groups
Yeah those Hindus and Muslims and Buddhists and other world religions really ought to not be Girl (or Boy) Scouts if they can’t promise to serve God.
Oh wait, the Girl Guide/Scout organizations in their countries predate ours... in fact Baden Powell founded the World Scout organization to be ecumenical, multi faith and multi cultural and Juliette Low continued that as her GS model
In Scouting spirituality is referenced in many ceremonies and customs, but that transcends religion. About 3.5 million of us in the USA, 10 million in the word, think that stands for something

What is Girl Scouts’ position on serving transgender youth?
Girl Scouts is proud to be the premiere leadership organization for girls in the country. Placement of transgender youth is handled on a case-by-case basis, with the welfare and best interests of the child and the members of the troop/group in question a top priority. That said, if the child is recognized by the family and school/community as a girl and lives culturally as a girl, then Girl Scouts is an organization that can serve her in a setting that is both emotionally and physically safe.
Is there really such a thing as “transgender youth?” Or is it actually the parents behind the scenes trying to convince a kid that he or she is “transgender?”
Boy and Girl Scouts are pretty much mired in the same PC as almost every organization in the country including schools and sports teams ..
If they “ identify” as a girl we have to take them - or for boy scouts, they have to take “ boys”
The compassionate Christian liberal left is as respondible for this as any large group... Can’t wait for our first transgender priest, can you?
Right now the only alternative is to fold and we’re not going to do that over a few dozen sick people
You can always do Scouts as an independent and not have to be in a troop under a leader that doesn’t float your boat
About time.Years ago I called my last parish because my daughter wanted to join and told them they were pro-death.They did nothing so we formed our own group and had lot’s of fun.Son stayed in Boy Scouts back then it was OK and he liked it.
