Why would you want to fight for spending cuts on spending that's going to expire in 5 months, and when most of those funds have already been allocated?
We didn't send republicans to DC to negotiate the terms of our surrender. So now they're going to find their manhood in September? Yeah. Sure. Some people can find happiness in anything.
Yes, we did. So did you stay home in a snit in 2016 or voted for the Republicans and continue to keep their feet to the fire.
Now's not the time to worry about fighting spending on spending that's going to go completely away within months. This 5 months gives Trump valuable time to reorganize and get his picks confirmed. Take out NK. And start the conversation on reducing the size, scope, and power of the Federal Government.
I didn’t vote for President Trump so he could “take out NK”. 99% of the things I care about are DOMESTIC. I don’t want any attention diverted away from domestic accomplishments. Lobbing cruise missiles at other countries or parking flotillas off the coast of supposedly “highly dangerous” nations is just more diversionary, sabre-rattling nonsense.
I also don’t want to hear about how much 3-D (or 4-D) chess Trump is playing. Our biggest enemies are right here in the U.S. Many are in Congress (or living in our metropolitan areas). They (Secular Globalists) are just as much your (and my) enemy as friggin’ NK. Notice how we got nothing in the budget EXCEPT stuff that Neo-Cons and Leftists would want. But we’re supposed to take it up the tailpipe all in the name of some supposed “grand strategy”. Here’s a novel idea....how about we get what we want and the Leftists and Neo-Cons wait to get military budget increases and funding for various Left-wing special interest. The excuse-making is wearing thin.
Because we control Congress and the Executive branches of government. Democrats wouldn't have given an inch, but we gave everything. You also embolden your enemies when you show weakness and an unwillingness to fight. September will be that much more difficult thanks to going weak-kneed today.
I don't believe Trump ever read Sun Tzu so I don't believe in some grand strategy here. The CR was nothing more than losing, lots of losing. You can hope that Trump and other republicans find their spine between now and September, but I've seen this movie far too many times.
