Jim Jordan: I Think You’re Going to See a Lot of Conservatives Be Against the Spending Plan
Breitbart ^ | May 1, 2017 | Jeff Poor

Monday on CNN’s “New Day,” Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH), the vice chairman of the House Freedom Caucus, said that he foresees some conservatives coming out against a proposed government spending bill set to come out later this week.

“I mean, look, money goes to Planned Parenthood as you said,” Jordan said to host Chris Cuomo. “Money continues to go to sanctuary cities but no money for the border wall. I think you’re going to see a lot of conservatives be against this plan this week.”

They haven’t repealed baseline budgeting, either. Without that, any “cuts” are a crock.

Something’s up. Why the dems get everything they want and Rs have house, senate, and excutive.

I’m hopeful this is going to turn ugly for dems with a shutdown.

Do not forget that the swamp must be drained. If not, all that you see will persist.

It's easier to allow murder than it is to protect the border.

Since Trump has backed down on just about everything he stood for lets solve the problem.

“Cut spending. We’re not winning. “Sorry” I’m tired of winning this way.

I suspect that Trump doesn’t want a government shutdown right now because if that were combined with a North Korea crisis it could theoretically turn into a perfect storm for economic panic.

I would rather think that than beileve that Trump being manipulated by a chicken-little advisor.

No wall? No deal! Shut it down. Let’s see if he has what it takes to stand up to this thievery.

Doesn’t matter what the Conservatives say this time around. There will be more than enough Democrats voting to pass. Especially since there’s Planned Parenthood money and nothing for the wall.

If this really is a deal between democrats and republicans then there’s nothing that Trump can do about it.

They will pass the deal with a veto proof majority.

There is plenty Trump can do. But that assumes he is opposed to the budget.

I think this is accurate, but you know, something will always be a “crisis” to prevent a solid budget.

I’m torn on this. If I was absolutely sure that he would shut down the government in Nov. when the first real budget is presented, and it didn’t have the wall, etc., then I’d have no problem.

We’re just so used to seeing the can get kicked down the road.

On the other hand-—and conservatives here better not forget this-—there are probably just enough votes in the House to impeach Trump if he gives them what THEY think is an excuse (i.e., a shutdown). Until the economy is roaring and he has unarguable #s, this must be a consideration. And, you can imagine what a Dem House in 2018 will look like. Nothing ever, ever will get done. Not justifying anything, just saying all aspects need to be considered.

As I stated at the time of the healthcare fiasco, a real danger exists that Donald Trump will abandon his base and make common cause with rinos and Democrats.

We are now to believe that in all of the fashioning of this catastrophic budget extension bill the White House had no participation, contributed no suggestions, was completely unaware of the contents of the bill. That is not the way Washington works and it is simply preposterous to believe it.

When healthcare reform was being debated there can be no doubt that the White House participated, Trump certainly ballyhooed the proposed legislation so favored by rinos and, after it's defeat, threatened the conservatives who, thank God, frustrated its passage by threatening to campaign against them. His support of the legislation could hardly have been more emphatic.

We must now examine Trump's behavior in reaction to this disastrous piece of legislation and determine whether he is abandoning pretext to conservative governance and making treaty with the left or whether he signals that he really means to live up to his campaign promises. The test will be whether he vetoes this bill, if he does not, it is the end of any claim to a conservative philosophy and perhaps even the end of his presidency.

Really? It’s numbers. Even if you think every member of the HFC is a “conservative,” there are something like 30 of them, leaving 180 or so who aren’t “conservatives.”

Then in the Senate, you have on ANY GIVEN ISSUE perhaps 10 conservatives, but some of them can go wobbly depending on the issue.

So out of 535 legislators, you have 40 conservatives. Explain how you get what the “Rs want?” Cuz the Rs don’t really want it. About 40 conservatives (and even then, that number fluctuates) want it.

Trump + 40 vs. 495. Those are tough odds.
